"The Boy that Soared with Condors" by
jmiles
I am a flight enthusiast who has a penchant for lifting bodies. I
don't know if you are familiar with "The Boy that Soared with
Condors" but it came out in 1967 on The Wonderful world of Disney.
As well as being a story about two kids learning to fly sailplanes,
there is a sequence of the M2-F1...

Where is Blanik S5-7108? by
Timo Hyvonen
Hi,
while putting together our flying club histoire, I tracked one of our old
Blaniks to have been sold to form. Yugoslavia back in 1992, tracing it
forwards to Slovenia where it was registered under S5-7108. It'd be nice to
hear if it still exists and/or what happened to it.
This Blanik was a...

Collision Avoidance Systems by
jcarlyle
Last week, before the Minden midair, I reviewed Collision Avoidance
Systems with the intent of putting one in my transponder-less ASW-19. I
was interested in such a system because my glider club lies inside the
Mode C veil of PHL, because an active military air base is 5 miles
away, and because...

Electronic declaration - Colibri by
Ian Cant
The Colibri automatically makes a flight declaration
on takeoff. It always has the same pattern, takeoff
then startpoint then turnpoints then finish point then
landing place.
For badge purposes, if I want to declare a flight using
release point via turnpoints to unknown landing point,
how do I go...

With all this discussion going on now, maybe someone with some
knowledge or experience could enlighten us on the consequences of 10 or
more sailplanes in a tight gaglge all squawking the same info. Will
ATC see them all? Or will interference and/or filtering software at
ATC make some or all of...

Libelle thermalling techniques by
AdamLibelle
Hi,
I have recently started flying a Libelle H201b and I don't think I am
quite making the most out of it's thermalling ability. Can anyone give
me any idea of the best speeds to fly in the thermal and any other
useful info.
