IFR ??? Country Road Question by
T Lee Buyea Fla News Service
IFR ? -- Doesn't that mean
" I Follow Railroad Tracks? "
Actually my real question as an avionics technician and not a pilot is
out in the wide open spaces in the USA where people like veterinarians
use small planes to reach farms in a large area they cover.
Is it legal to land a small plane...

WACO annual Fly In by
Michael Ware
Anybody have good information about this event? It's supposed to be the
22nd-25th at Wynkoop (6G4) in Mt. Vernon, OH but I am not having any luck
tracking down an events web page for it. I have a friend that is just dying
to see a biplane up close.

I had the strangest dream last night by
David Herman
I dreamt that I received a notice from a collection agency that I had some
unpaid bills. I called them and they said that I owed the FAA some money, so
they were initiating the collection process. This came as news to me, so I
marched down to my local FAA office to get things straightened...

A Good Pilot Could Use a Card From YOU! by

Jack Broughton, ex lead of the Thunderbirds and well known aviation writer
is recuperating from a heart attack. He is in a hospital in New York. The
prognosis I've been given is good.
I have kept the Thunderbird organization in the loop on this, and I'm
posting it here in the clear in the hope that...

FBO Purchase worth it ? by
Toņo
Hi all,
I have a friend that is about to purchase a small FBO. Now we all know
that owning a small FBO is a labor of love at the very least. However,
he is wondering if it is really financial suicide given the trends of
today's laws, governmental regs, legislation, TSA, etc.
His (my) question...

Have you tried AOPA ASF's Refresher? by
Skyking
The Aviation Safety Foundation has a FREE
online refresher which is good for the novice or
expert. It is a good place to get your WINGS
certificate it is inconvenient to attend a regular
meeting.

FBO around Tampa? by
[email protected]
Making a first time visit to Florida for a business conference and
always give myself an extra day to do some local flying with an
instructor. Any recommendations for an airport and FBO around Tampa?
I'll have to get there by cab. Thanks!

My first solo! by
Crash Lander
Well, did my first solo on the weekend! Went up with my instructor first and
did 2
touch and go's than on the third time around he asked me to do a full stop,
and he'd get out and I could do one on my own.
"Are you happy with that?" he asked.
We landed, and taxiied off the runway and the plan was...

Garmin GPSmap 496 in simulator mode? by
student pilot
Hi guys,
first of all: Happy Newyear!
I have a quick question on the Garmin GPSmap 496 (,which I bought about
a month ago). Is there a way to simulate a route? I know it works in
automotive mode but (if it's there) I could not find it in aviation
mode :-(
I thought, as a student pilot, it...

Comair investigation by
Andrew Sarangan
Reading the recently released transcripts of the cockpit conversations,
I was surprised by their callousness. One pilot observes that there are
no runway lights, and the is "yeah". What??? When did this type of
callousness creep into the cockpit? The attitude of "yeah, sure,
whatever" does not even...

FAA run-around by

Been trying to get my medical file from the FAA (my 3-rd class is coming up
for renewal and I don't remember what I put on the application 3 years ago).
I searched the FAA's website and didn't find any official forms for
requesting this info, all they seem to require is a "signed...

I'm a Dutch pilot(PPL SEP) going to Kalamazoo MI for business.
While I'm over there I think about doing some sight seeing by plane,

Can anybody recommend FBO's in that area?

Engine "on demand" regulation?? by
Frode Berg
Hi!
Just spoke to my mechanic, and he told me that there will be a new
regulation here in Norway for private aircraft that takes away the mandatory
engine replacement after approx 2000 hours.
Instead, an engine is allowed to run indefinately as long as the regular
maintenance is carried out at a...
