Any W&B calculators that work in 640x480 on HP4700 PDA? by Jose
I am after a simple W&B calculator for a PDA, with a few E6B calculations (density altitude, say) but nothing else. Try CoPilot, for the palm. It does more than just w&b, but you don't have to use it. IT is outstandingly excellent though. Jose -- "Never trust anything that can think for...

Any W&B calculators that work in 640x480 on HP4700 PDA? by Juan Jimenez
Why not do one yourself? If it's an HP4700 it runs Windows for PDA's and should support both Java and .NET. I can send you some code to get started, at one point I was doing a clone of the one Sporty's sells (the handheld dedicated one with the terrible screen). I don't have time to deal with...

Is it me or is the FAA about one incident away from a disaster worse than Lexington? http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/10/31/missed.runway.ap/index.html Notice the number of passengers on board Now look what happens when you land or take off on the wrong runway or use a taxi way

IFR in the Eastern Mountains by Kobra
Flyers, I am thinking of a flight into Ingalls airport in Hot Springs, VA this Fall. It's elevation is 3,792' and has a 5000+ foot runway. It is surrounded by several washboard-like mountains. Look at the picture on airnav: http://tinyurl.com/yn6hrm Also click on this link to see a really...

A disturbing statistic by Dane Spearing
I've had many non-pilot friends and co-workers ask, "Is flying a small plane more or less dangerous than driving a car?", to which my response has always been "It depends on who is piloting the plane." However, in order to get a firmer answer from a statistical standpoint on this question, I...

Garmin G1000 ASA/King? by Mitty
Has anyone compared the training discs from ASA and King? Recommendations? I am going to check out in a C182T/G1000 and may want to buy one of these. (I have seen the Sporty's disc -- it is tourist stuff.)

PC IFR simulators by Nick Kliewer
As MS Flight Sim X is fixin to be released, I am wondering if I couldn't get a better IFR simulator for similar money? I am currently using MS Flight Sim for help on keeping procedures fresh -- but there are a lot of things that aren't very realistic about IFR on MSFS. I imagine since it's so...

12 horsepower per hour per gallon, equates to percent power by Doug
Rule of thumb. So if you are burning 10 gallons an hour in a 180 hp engine, you are developing (10x12) = 120 hp. 120/180 = .67, so that is 67% power. It's not exact but gets you close.
