Proxalert R5 comments by
Frode Berg
Hi!
Anyone got one of these? Comments?
I have the Surecheck TPAS 110 device, and I'm looking on upgrading. The
Sqawk code display looks like a great idea! Good for askeing ATC about
location of threats. Does it work well?
All comments welcome.
Also, if anyone wants to buy my TPAS cheap, let me...

Airventure get-togethers by
Morgans
How will us RAP's and ilk find each other's location, since no one knows
where they will be until they land?
Is there a message board in the north 40? Will anyone have internet
connections while there for the week, and what will the addresses be?
Questions, questions. I'm starting into planning...

SWRFI Pirep.. (long) by
Dave S
I made a day trip out to the SouthWest Regional Flyin held this weekend
in New Braunsfels KBAZ, Texas and thought I would share a little of
what I found. Of course, once you have attended Oshkosk/Airventure,
nothing will compare or measure up... but overall it was an enjoyable trip.
I have to...

Google is inaugurating http-based discussion groups. A bit rough around the

His "I needed to deviate" comment is chilling. He hit a drug runner,

Getting around company insurance policy by
Iain Wilson
I've got a business trip in a couple of weeks and it looks like the perfect
opportunity to 'beat' the airlines, get some great x-country time and apply
my license in a practical way.
I need to get to Houghton in the UP of MI from Chicago. It's basically 300
miles due north: ~3 hours in the 172...

The big deal of Rutan's "almost-space" flight by
Teacherjh
Ok, Rutan's craft went close to space. I won't argue about where "space"
begins, but it's high up there, and Rutan (by which I mean his craft) is also
high up there.
What's the big deal? Here are my thoughts.
While it's true that the basic accomplishment of this flight (suborbital,
"close to...

More Blackbird Trivia by
Jay Honeck
After our last discussion about the SR-71 Blackbird, a debate ensued as to
whether the Blackbird actually overflew Soviet airspace, in direct violation
of the agreement the U.S. signed with the U.S.S.R. after the Francis Gary
Powers incident. This agreement forbade overflights.
I was under the...

KFRG at LiveATC.net by
Marco Leon
So I answered Dave's call for Help Wanted at Liveatc.net and volunteered my
scanner and some trivial bandwidth on my cable modem. The result is a new
feed for Republic Airport (KFRG)! It has TWR, GND, CLNC, UNICOM (Atlantic
Aviation), and an FSS. I can get most transmissions from aircraft on...

I am contemplating a flight form Venice KVNC to Atlanta with a fuel stop at
KLCQ Lake City, or close to it depending on fuel prices.
Do not want to go into the big airport in Atlanta. Any one have comments on
airports near Atlanta within Taxi cab distance.
Thanks

Living on the airport -- comments? by
Jay Honeck
We find ourselves with the rare opportunity to purchase a home with a
property line just 60 feet from the centerline of a 2400 foot runway.
It's a beautiful home, with almost 2 acres of land. It's got everything we
could want in a home, except for a hangar. (The hangar that comes with it
fits an...

flying in Denmark or Sweden by
R. Wubben
Greetings,
I am going on vacation to Copenhagen and Stockholm in June. Are there
clubs or the equivlent of FBO's where one could fly with an instructor
for some sightseeing? (not foolish enough to think I could do this
solo). I have a US PPL and glider rating.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Ryan Wubben
