Another Morning At The Avionics Shop by
NW_PILOT
My VOR, LOC & GS KI-214 was wacky well, I have been putting it off, and
putting it off dreading a high repair bill on this item from the stories I
have herd on the usent posts. It was not as bad as some say it was after a
week waiting for my appointment!
9:30 my KI-214 in along with my 170B that...

Vapour trails by
Michael Calwell
Hello,
Question from a complete landlubber.
I work outdoors beneath the flightpath to Edinburgh Airport.
I take it that vapour trails are the condensed water contained in the
air ingested by the engines. My question is, how much air does an engine
ingest at cruise? How would you visualise that...

Transition to PA-32R by
Mike Granby
Well, I've now got a grand total of 6 hours in my newly-acquired 1980
Saratoga, and since a couple of people asked, I thought I'd post my
experiences. The first big difference that hit me before I got off the
ground -- it's a heck of lot harder to taxi than the PA-28. Ok, so it
helped a lot when I...

Owning more expensive than renting by
Jon Kraus
"My A&P took a look, sure enough, said I have never seen anything like
this."
He's never worked on Mooney then has he. :-) One thing about
Mooney's, either they are leaking now, or they will be :-)
We have some seepage that has appeared on our '79 M20J. We are
monitoring it but we will...

Cessna Caravan Twin Conversion? by
Dan
I was wondering where I could find any information about a twin engine
caravan conversion. I remember seeing this a while back where someone
had geared to turbines together to keep a single prop. Does anyone
know who did the conversion?
Thanks,
Dan

secret advice by
houstondan
ok...as to flying c-150/172 type aircraft, what can you do, really,
that's fun and won't hurt the airframe? at 80mph, can you really hurt
the machine with full control deflection? i guess that's what i'm
asking ... how much can you "yank and bank" these things before bad
things happen? i can...

T-34 crash by
Big John
Another T-34 crashed today here in Houston killing the IP and
student. Was from the company that has air combat and upset training.
Eye witness heard a report and saw a wing that had separated. They had
a similar accident (wing separation) just a year ago that killed the
owner of Company.
Not sure...

Archway Aviation (St. Louis) by

Hi, I've just moved to saint louis and am looking for a place to
continue my private training. I've searched through these postings but
unfortunatly it seems like a lot of the FBO's around here have either
gone out of business or at least stopped teaching. So does anyone have

A question for the future by
B25flyer
Over a period of time aviation seems to make changes due to technical advances.
As such in the past certain "basics" of aviation that were once written in
stone have gone by the wayside.
So here is one for ya. Last week I started a student on the ground school
basics of cross country planing. Draw...

Repeated Post Problems by
Morgans
Is anyone else getting a high number (about 20%) of identical posts?
I think the problem lies with my ISP (Charter), since they recently went
with a new newsreader service. Let me know, if you are, and especially if
you are using an ISP other than charter.
Thanks.

Pilots "Twas the night before Christmas" by
Matt Barrow
Twas the night before Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, and out on the ramp,
Not an airplane was stirring, not even a Champ.
The aircraft were fastened to tiedowns with care,
In hopes that come morning, they all would be there.
The fuel trucks were nestled, all snug in their spots,
With...

Why are military & civilian headset plugs different? by
Ben Hallert
Howdy,
Just started taking flying lessons (6 hours ground and 7 hours in the
air) and I've been reading up on everything like accessories,
techniques, etc plus lurking here for a week.
During this time, I noticed the difference between military andcivilian
headsets, and if I understand correctly,...

Cabin Air Pressure by
[email protected]
I just got off the phone with Southwest Customer Relations asking a
question about cabin air pressure. Two separate people informed that
cabin air pressure in flight is 14.7 psi (sea level equiv.) and that it
is 10.0 psi (about 10,000 ft equiv.) on the ground.
Obviously, this has to be backwards,...

"zero" versus "oscar" versus "sierra" by
Ron Garret
I fly an airplane whose last two digits in its identifier are "0P"
(indicating that it's an OurPlane aircraft). Of course, OurPlane would
have liked it to be "OP" instead, but the FAA won't allow "oscar" in
aircraft identifiers, only "zero".
It happens that there's another airplane at my airport...
