Oshkosh Vehicle Camping by
Jacob Jaks
Hello all:
My Jr. Ace is still not done, so in order to visit Oshkosh this year, I'll
have to drive up. We plan on arriving Friday evening and staying in Camp
Scholler through the weekend. From those with experience, do you think it
will be possible to get a camping spot that late in the week? ...

FAA form 337? by
Paul Lee
Some equipment I installed mentions form 337 - for example VOR/LOC/GS receiver,
IFR GPS, etc., Is 337 required in a new kit project? It is for "Major repairs
and alterations".
Or does the DAR approve the whole package together?
Please advise any required...

The National Lake Eutrophication Survey 1971-1973 by
Badwater Bill
The following is to the best of my recollection. I haven't even
changed the name of a buddy I was with during these events. I may be
wrong about some of the statistics, like the number of divorces and
number of hot babes in the restaurants, but I'm close. Almost none of
this is an exageration...

The earth pulls down on the plane... by
Alan Baker
....and the plane pulls up on the earth.
The air pushes up on the plane and the plane pushes down on the air;
essentially transferring the earth's continuous flow of downward
momentum acting on the plane to a much greater mass of air.
That air keeps that downward momentum, diffusing it through...

Xantus vtol??? by
R-U-N
A while back the Xantus vtol 4 place kit was looking pretty cool. Now
they seem to have disapeared. Anyone know what happened? Their web
site www.vtol1.com is now a lame place holder site and has been since
around late last year. I couldn't find any info as to what happened
to them.

Real time continuous Prop balancing by
abripl
This thread is not about how to balance a prop or shop balancing
machines.
Did anyone use BalanceMasters device bolted on their ultralight prop?
These devices apparently balance the prop continuously as you fly.
Similar devices are used on truck wheels - see www.BalanceMasters.com

REQ: Narco Superhomer Photo by
RST Engineering
Does anybody have a digital photo in fairly high res of an old Narco
Superhomer that they would be willing to copy to me for an article I'm doing
for both Oshkosh forum and a Kitplanes column? A VC-27Z would do just as
well. If you've got a good photo and can upload it to your web page...

Master cylinders by
[email protected]
I have some Gerdes master cylinders that were given to me years ago
which I am just now planning on using. Don't know much about them,
but was wondering if it wouldn't be prudent to have them be rebuilt
( overhauled ) before I use them, since they've been on the shelf for
so long. Is it actually...

Ramifications of Cherokee Trim Jackcrew Failure by
Bob Chilcoat
As I mentioned in a couple of other threads in RAP recently, the trim
jackscrew is very worn in our '74 Archer. The wear seems to be nearly half
of the thread depth. In other words, you can move the screw laterally
inside the drum about half of the height of a thread. It can be rocked
angularly...

had built which I thought that some readers here might find...

One coat paint for aluminum? by
[email protected]
Howdy,
I'm building a Savannah, and I want to keep the weight down. I'm only
planning to paint some odd shapes on the plane and leave the rest bare
aluminum. Since the plane is a simple, crude little creature, I can't see
spending a bunch of time and money on these paint accents.
So my question...

Off topic - Landing of a B-17 by

An interesting tale I ran across...
The Most Unbelievable Landing of a B-17 by George Ureke, Lt. Colonel, USAF

Flying a bombing mission out of Foggia, Italy, off of Tortorella US Army Air
Field in Italy, during W.W.ll, our B-17 caught one hell of a lot of flack.
All four engines were still...

Epoxy is really crap for homebuilding by
Sliker
Lately I've had to use the stuff to work with some pre-made parts that
were made from epoxy. Aeropoxy. Stinky!
Epoxy is more viscose, so it doesn't wet out the cloth as well. It is
more toxic, especially some of the older formulas. And smells
horrible. And why did so many homebuilders get stuck...

Free plans? Open source plans? by
Oliver Arend
The first question is really simple: Are there any free plans for
homebuilt aircraft on the web? It should have an engine and be able to
carry a person, apart from that I'm just interested in seeing what's
out there, if any...
The second question/idea is a bit far out: Are there any "open...

I am continuing to build my library of plans for airplanes that are rare

I landed a set of plans for the Mead Adventure the other day. I am
feeling lucky so I thought I would post a message and see what...
