USS LIBERTY: WE HAVE THE SMOKING GUN! by XDangerousDNA
USS LIBERTY: WE HAVE THE SMOKING GUN! Liberty deniers continue to insist that, despite all the evidence, the attack on our ship must have been a mistake. "Israel would not do such a thing to its best friend," they insist. They persist in presenting silly arguments such as "poor memory," "fog of...

A-7 Corsair Info needed by [email protected]
When I visited Iwakuni in '85 (was stationed there from '73-'76), there was an entire A-7 squadron there, billed as a "spare" for the Midway, or whichever other boat was doing IO duty at the time. Don't recall too much else of what I learned in a 15 minute conversation with one of...

Older airframes by Jim
This time of the year I usually ask the regular readers of this newsgroup which aircraft they flew years ago they'd most like to see with a newer engine. Always worthy of many fine comments. This time a slight revision. You are recalled to active duty for combat overseas. You will return with a...

Side slip by Jim
For any of you who flew in Keflavik you are aware of the horrendous cross winds we often had there. Turns out that Airbus used KEF recently to qualify the A380. Check out the video for details. The video narrative is in Icelandic but I'm certain you won't need it to judge what is going on. --...

NAS OAKLAND? by Jdf4cheval
Over a few beers today with a former Marine and sailor from the Fifties, "NAS Oakland" was mentioned. The Marine recalled it was in the old section of what is now Oakland Internatinal Airport. One of the surviving buildings may still have Navy wings on it. Has anyone else heard of NAS OAKLAND?

VFA-82 - and F/A-18 vs. F-15 by [email protected]
http://www.news.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=17006 The only sad thing in this story is the fact that another squadron with a great history is gonna be shelved. But it reminds me about VA-55 Warhorses, disestablished while its crews fought in Desert Storm under the flags of other...
