Varcom 2G by
Phoebus_810
Can anybody tell me anything about the Varcom 2G calculator/GPS. I am
looking for the manufacturars homepage, or even better, the manual.
The first thing I want to know is if you can change the ft/knot
setting to m/km setting yourself?

Do you... by
Shawn Curry
....e-mail people when you kill file them?
sent me an e-mail to let me know he *PLONK*ed me.
Fine that he KF'd me, but odd that he let me know.
Shawn
P.S. I altered his e-mail so it won't attract Spam, I'm curious not, an
a-hole (in most peoples opinion ;-) )

IPAQ Wiring - which pins are used by
Michael
There are commercial solutions availabe, ready to use.
But I would like to know which pins are used on the
IPAQ 3900 side for a two wire communication with the GPS
and which pins are used for the +5V power supply.
The IPAQ connector has some 22 pins and I guess that for
power pins 19 gets +5V and...

Parachute repack date revisited by
Bill Daniels
This thought popped into my mind today.
Lets say an occasion arises requiring the use of your out-of-date parachute.
You leap clear of your damaged glider and pull the ripcord and, as we all
expect, the 'chute works perfectly.
Through dumb luck and many yanks on the risers, you manage to land on...

Redundant canopy latching by
John
Here is another idea for discussion:
Noticed a few cosmetic cracks in the fiberglass surface near the
canopy's hinge area.
Will monitor this area and repair when needed as, of course, if the
hinges fail, the canopy will open at best; fall off at worse.
My particular plane has been flown with...

Thank all of you for your suggestions and stories. I settled on proposing
the Bob Korves-related tale of the contest pilot who landed out above the
clouds because it would give me the opportunity to show 15 minutes of
kick-ass aerials at the beginning before people changed to the ALL NASCAR
CHANNEL...

Reading List by
Ray Lovinggood
Folks,
After spending many hours waiting for a retrieve after
land-outs and waiting on a grid for a couple or more
hours each day at last year's Region Six race, I realized
it would be really great to have a book on board.
So, what books should I put on my reading list. A
small, paperback book...
