Gatwick flight info by
FredG
Hi.
Are there still flights from Gatwick to New Zealand?
I've searched the BAA site but can find no info. Air NZ page indicates
they fly from Heathrow now. When did this change?
Are there any airlines out of Gatwick that fly to Australia?
Thanks.

747-100 Checklist by
Bartscher
I recently acquired a control wheel off of a 747-135 (formerly N620US / N77772)
as a piece of aviation memorabilia. I'd like to get an original airline
checklist to put on the clipboard. This 747 flew for Northwest and National
during its career, so ideally I'd like to find a checklist from one of...

A guy here asked me to help him to find answer(s) on his qiestion: are there
any amphib floats with non-retractable main wheels?
If any, could anybody point me out where to find information about such

Austin, Texas, Scam Snares Unwary Pilots by
Andy Shane
I just got finished a 777 Tokyo trip with the most meticulous,
cautious
captain I've seen in years.
He (and earlier another American pilot) recently got caught up in
Lakeway's New
Millenium version of a rural southern speedtrap.
My guy landed in daylight, having been giving sightseeing rides...

Historic Helsinki-Malmi Airport in trouble - please read by
Seppo Sipilä
The historic Helsinki-Malmi Airport in Finland (EFHF) is in trouble.
Local decision-makers are making every effort to close down the unique
old airport and to turn it into a suburb. Democracy-wise, their
methods are not far from what was done to Meigs Field in Chicago.
Please take a look at...

DC ADIZ procedures? by
Roy Smith
I'm planning a trip from HPN to GAI soon. I've read all the NOTAMs,
and all the other stuff AOPA and others have put out, and I'm still
baffled how this is all supposed to work. Some of the material
directly contradicts other stuff (AOPA's presentation says you MUST
close your ADIZ flight plan,...

final reserve fuel by
Tim
Hi,
Could anyone tell me how the final reserve for jets is calculated?
I know it's the fuel to fly for 30 minutes at 1500ft AAL in ISA
conditions at holding speed... But what weight do you use? Do you
assume that contignency fuel is burnt (so gross weight = TOW - TRIP
fuel - ALTN fuel) when...

Lantern Test by

Hey,
I was applying for a job as an ATCO, and have been given an invitation
to the selection day, however on the application form there was lots
of questions about vision - whether your short or long sighted etc,
but nothing about colour blindness. I have perfect vision except for a
slight...

single-engine turboprop emergency landing in Indiana by
Kyler Laird
I just saw a clip on the local news about a single-engine turboprop
that landed on a Highway 933 in Roselawn yesterday after having
engine problems. It looks like it might be a PC-12. It's N922RG.
It was going from South Bend Regional, IN to White Plains, NY with
five people on board. They were...
