ASW-24 by Lee Rusconi
I have an opportunity to buy a 1988 ASW-24 which is in beautiful condition, good electronics and great trailer. The glider is equipped with M&H winglets. The asking price is $45,000 US. I would appreciate any feedback regarding the winglets and/or the price. Thanks

Spinning a Pegase by Dan S
My Pegase 101's flight manual states that aerobatic maneuvers including intentional spins are prohibited. I'm keen to test the behaviour of the glider in a spin and also the spin recovery procedure. Is the Pegase really unsuitable for intentional spins, will the wings fall off?

HVLP Paint Sprayer Recommendations by LongJourney
Has anyone used an HVLP sprayer to refinish a wood and fabric aircraft? If so, did you get a better finish? Did it save a significant amount of paint? Was it worth using vs. a regular paint spray gun? Thanks, Jeff

304 CZ 17 advice needed by [email protected]
Looking for advice on the 304 cz 17. Is this too much glider for a lower time pilot. Total 200 hours gliders, recent experience 1-36, Grob 103 and a few hrs in Grob 102. (Comfortable, no pio, no bounces, good airspeed control in all three). Considering a 304cz17 but definitely looking for...

Mini-Nimbus experiences by [email protected]
Spin Characteristics Can those mini pilots that have experienced full multi rotation spins in the mini describe what caused the spin, the glider's configuration, the glider's behavior in a spin, and the steps they took to recover... I've never spun my mini, N171XX, SN 103. Our club is about to...

Virgin Galactic by AS
Virgin Galactic successfully completed another test flight. Out of curiosity, I looked up the reg.-number N202VG of the space plane. Turns out that it is registered as an Experimental Glider - without an engine! So that massive rocket sticking out the back is not an engine? Hmmm... the...

Diameter of thermals by Waveguru
Some days the thermals are big, and some days they are very small in diameter and it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with their strength or height. Do any of you know what determines their size? It seems that on the days they are small, they stay small all day, and vise versa. Boggs

Rolladen- Schneider LS3A flap seals- Do they really make any difference? by [email protected]
Dick Johnson experimented extensively with sealing the gap between the flaperon and fuselage on one of the very early '3s after he found the polar curve to be erratic in the 70-80kt region. Fitting some rough seals apparently removed a 'notch' in the curve at about 75kts and smoothed the polar...

Round out and flare with fully open spoilers in a PW-6? Other gliders? by son_of_flubber
The PW-6 has very effective spoilers, and some other gliders have even more effective spoilers. Assuming C.G. is within limits and runway is level, is it possible to round out and flare with the spoilers fully open? Does one need extra airspeed? How much extra? (Yep. I know it is advisable to...

Becker/Mic Compatibility by [email protected]
I've got a Becker AR 3201 radio that was factory configured to accept a standard mic (rather than dynamic). Works fine with a Plantronics headset (carbon equivalent mic). I'd like to install a Peiker Acustic boom mic. The specs on the Peiker electret mic (ME510) are Operating Voltage 1.5v to...

Ventus 2 compared to Discus besides the obvious by [email protected]
I know the Ventus 2 is flapped and Discus is not. I am talking about ease of handling that the Discus is known for. Is the Ventus 2 with its wing design change similar to the Discus or more like its predecessor to fly. The Ventus A/B do not receive the greatest reviews for pleasure flying. What...
