garmin 296-can't find delete by
[email protected]
I have a new Garmin 296 and I can't figure out how to delete the
factory-loaded default airport that displays when "Go To" is selected.
It's the first alphabetic airport in the database, I assume, KAAA. I
can't find any way to delete it or any of the airports I've added.
Anyone know how to do it?

Just got my Garmin 296! by
Stan
Hello all,
I just received my Garmin 296 from Sporty's today (I ordered it last week)
and in a word, it's amazing. It's the same size and configuration as the
196, with an incredible color screen that doesn't wash out in sunlight (in
fact, it seems to get easier to read the brighter the sunlight...

transponder repair by
[email protected]
I have a Narco AT50A transponder that is not working right. Since I
don't fly IFR, I'm thinking I'll just get it repaired and not upgrade
to an expensive unit with a more modern design (such as Garmin GTX
327). It seems that if the repair is cheaper than buying a used
yellow-tagged newer model, I'm...

Inside the Cowling Fire / Heat Detector? by
George Sconyers
Does anyone know of detector available for small aircraft (not transport
aircraft / Part 135, 121) that can be installed in the cowling(s) to detect
the presence of some condition (excessive heat, IR, etc.) that would lead to
an in-flight fire? Examples of those conditions might include a...

Real World test bed for avionics - Megawatts at Delano by
MikeremlaP
Thought there used to be an "avionics" subgroup, but I guess not.
Cross posting this in .ifr & .experimental.
If you want a good real world test of how hardened your equipment is to RFI,
fly over to Delano, California and fly the pattern for 32L. That puts you
about 2 miles from the Voice of...

I have have been an off and on subscriber to the aviation consumer

I had a chance to talk to several members of the AEA and they often
mentioned that in their opinion they felt the need to send free...
