Cricri by The Old Bloke[_4_]
I have some videos of the tiny Cricri aircraft, but all are of the petrol engine version. I know some have been fitted with R/C turbines, but can't find a video. I have tried Google. I have seen some photos. Any one know of a video? Regards Doug

Where in the world is JayH... by Jack Allison
....why, at the end of runway 27 in Lakeland FL, of course! Watching airplanes and enjoying a cold one...and he taunts me via a voice message no less. My only solace, Oshkosh slightly more than three months from now. Hmmm, this begs the question as to what MontBlack and the Honeck kids are up...

NGA US navigational data at risk? by Doug Vetter
Has anyone seen the notice on the NGA website that the USFIF (raw aviation waypoint data for the US) will be discontinued in October of 2007? They tried to kill DAFIF as a whole last year but eventually succumbed to pressure from the industry to allow US territorial data to remain available. ...

ATC question by Matt Whiting
A question for Stephen, Newps or other folks knowledgeable in the finer points of ATC. A friend of mine flew into Reading, PA last week with another pilot. Since Reading is a class D airport with no TRSA, but with radar approach control, they elected to simply call tower directly 6 or so...

Close to solo by Jon[_2_]
Now have 12.7 hours logged and doing lots of touch and go landings. My CFI is still working at my cross wind landings before he lets me go solo. One thing he has me doing on nearly every flight is to bank and keep the nose going straight and hold altitude too. Said its for cross wind landings...

Fly Safely.... by muff528
Y'all be careful if you're flying to SnF. There's already been an accident here and since the weather is great (and expected to get better) there will likely be a lot of traffic. My condolences to the families. Blue'ns, TP

Oral exam place and questions by Mxsmanic
I've been reading about oral exams for a private pilot license (in the U.S.), and two questions have come to mind. Where does this exam take place? Is it in a classroom, or in a testing center, or is it actually in the aircraft? When you are asked math-type questions, are you expected to answer...

IFR in uncontroller airspace by Danny Deger
Has anyone out there ever flown IFR in uncontrolled airspace without a flight plan. I understand there are places out west that still have large tracts of uncontrolled airspace that go up to altitude (14,500 feet??). I am used to it either ending at 700 or 1200 feet AGL. Danny Deger

Another Northwest pilot in trouble by Mxsmanic
Lately they've been giving aviation a bad name. At least he wasn't snorting cocaine in the cockpit. See http://us.cnn.com/2007/US/04/15/pilot.cocaine/index.html -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by e-mail.

Methods for altitude changes by Mxsmanic
Suppose you're in your small aircraft and you want to climb from 4000 to 6000, or descend from 6000 to 4000. What method do you use? I can think of several, but I don't know which is best/recommended. For example, to climb from 4000 to 6000, I can just ease the yoke back and climb. When I get...

Uses for a stopwatch by Mxsmanic
How many uses are there for a stopwatch or similar device aboard an aircraft? I note that a clock with an elapsed-time function is required equipment. The only time I've had occasion to use it is for holding patterns. What other uses are there? -- Transpose mxsmanic and gmail to reach me by...

Temporarily deviating from IFR by Mxsmanic
You're flying happily over the desert in your small plane, in bright, clear weather, on your IFR flight plan. You notice a plume of smoke a short distance away at your nine o'clock, and looking more carefully, you see what looks like a stranded car with some people standing around it. You'd like...
