OSH rah/rap Party??? by
RST Engineering
I just got back from a business meeting over by SFO and I have seen
absolutely nothing posted about the Wednesday night party in OSH. Are they
all still there? Did I just miss an entire thread? Inquiring minds want
every trivial detail.

Glide Slope Antenna Ground Plane by
JKimmel
I want to move a glide slope antenna from a flush mount in a metal skin
to a boat type on a carbon fiber fairing which will move the antenna
about 5" below the metal skin. Will the antenna still work if it's
offset from the ground plane like this?
Thanks,

Oshkosh Taxiway Incident by
M
Anybody have any details about the taxiway incident in front of the tower at
noon today (Sunday) at Oshkosh? I only saw it out of the corner of my eye,
but a warbird (TBM I think) ran over the back of what looked like an RV-7.
Unfortunately I think there was at least one injury, possibly fatal.

Prop for c-65 powered homebuilt by
[email protected]
I,m in the middle of a homebuilt LSP aircraft using a 65 Cont. engine
and about to buy a prop. Does anyone have advise concerning using some
other choice than Sensnich or Macauley prop on this
engine{Prince.Arrowprop,Warp Drive,Ivoprop],or any other alternative
that might be ground adjustable ??I'm...

Veedubber's Tech-Line Coatings by
Ernest Christley
Mr. Hoover, I've been pondering the thermal barrier and thermal
dispersants that you've advocated several times. Ponder with me for a
moment if you will.
I've got an experimental engine, with an experimental cooling setup. Do
know for guaranteed that the cooling will be sufficient, so I'll be...

Jim Weir's strobe design by
Ernest Christley
Jim, you have an article on a design for a strobe on your website. I've
gone to Mouser to get the parts, but about half of them are invalid. Is
it possible that you could do an update on that article, or maybe just
an updated parts list?

Problem with auto alternators by
abripl
One known problem is that aircraft engines turn CCW looking at the prop
but auto alternators have cooling fins optimized for CW. But thats not
apparently as much a problem as the pulley nut potentially comming
loose. For CW rotation the engine torque will tend to tighten the
pulley nut but for CCW...

$300 homebrew wing levelling system by
[email protected]
With the summer thermals upon us, and not being able to scratch my nose
without having my small homebuilt tossed off course got me to thinking
about how to build a low cost wing leveller.
A small servo tab mounted out on the aileron, controlled by a jumbo
sized R/C servo would probably work fine. ...

Frying your avionics by
ELIPPSE
To those of you who have a circuit breaker between your alternator's
output and your main buss, here's a wonderful way to fry your present
old avionics so you can replace them with new ones. This is a real help
in justifying new avionics to your significant other! If your
alternator...

Bending graphlite rod by
[email protected]
The data on the Marske website about the graphlite (TM) rod they use
indicates
a glass transition temperature of 212F. So I tried heating some with a
heat gun
to see if I could put a permanent bend in it. No luck.
I think maybe it uses a phenolic resin which is thermosetting, rather
than...

Aluminum materials related questions by
nondem
I've started on my plane!!!!
I have a couple of questions that should be easy for you guys to
answer...
The first one is almost stupid but I'm anal about these things: What
grit of sand paper is ideal for sanding/deburring the cuts I've made in
6061-T6? The saw/blade I used really did a good job...

Grounded - Where to get rid of the Building Materials? by
Rocketeer
Hi Folks:
The FAA made it official, and I appealed all the way, but the heart
monitor put the stake in the plans I made. I am grounded. I was going
to build a Renegade, Charlie Lasher's Formula V from the 80's.
So, I have to forget building the plane. I have $300.00 of Wicks
chrome-moly...

oil change durations by
Dick
Having always changed the aeroshell 100 sae50 change in my c85 every 25
hours, I'm considering extending the aeroshell duration to maybe 35 hours.
My flights are in Florida and usually around an hour (or sometimes two) and
am currently burning/losing up to 1/2 quart per hour when filled to 3-1/4...

RST headset-Val tranceiver compatibility by
Stew Hicks
I have not been able to use my RST kit headsets with my Val radio.
Transmission is so low as to be unreadable, reception is not a problem.
I've used the headsets with a Micro Air transceiver, a Collins and a
Icom handheld and the headsets work fine with these radios.
At present I am using a loaned...
