Typo in Battery Test Article in Soaring by
JohnDeRosa
Well heck. A typo crept into my "Battery Test" article in the
February issue Soaring. So for those checking my math in footnote #1,
this is how it should have read;
"1A is the nominal current draw at 12Vdc (12W). When the
battery voltage drops below 12Vdc, the current draw is lower. ...

Operating Limitations by
ASM
To All,
Can someone email me a copy or a sample of the Operational Limitation
letter that needs to be send out to the FAA? I am guilty of not doing
that and would like to correct this problem. I am talking about a
letter that will permit operation of an experimental glider within a
300 nm radius...

Overstuffed panels by
Bill D
This is in response to threads on FLARM and Mirasol displays which I
think relate in a general way.
If you back up 100 meters and think outside the box, we've been facing
restricted panel space for a long time. FLARM is just the latest
gadget but it may be the proverbial "straw".
A solution has...

GPS Date Bug with Samsung Devices by
Alex[_5_]
I made a flight on Saturday, Jan 28 in Calif. using a Samsung Galaxy
phone with XCSoar 6.2.5.
The file would not process on the OLC. After examining the IGC file,
it was recording the date in the file one day ahead of the actual
date, i.e. it was recording Jan. 29 (and Jan 30 after 0000 UTC)....

THIS is the cockpit display tech we need by
Bill D
http://rdd.me/ryoliosm I doesn't matter how 'smart' our gadgets are
if you can't read the damn screens with a quick glance. Qualcom's
Mirasol display looks like a magazine cover in direct sunlight.

Altimeter setting by
Tom[_12_]
As a glider pilot, when are you allowed to use a zero altimeter
setting?
Back in July, I asked the FAA for a legal opinion regarding FAR
91.121. Yesterday, I finally received a response.
There is reason for a continued dialog, and I am continuing the
discussion with the FAA legal...
