Nano Eliminated Takeoff Location by Bob Youngblood
Took a flight yesterday and tried to upload. All of the information was on the Nano except it did not record the takeoff location and will not allow me to upload. I guess the internal GPS in the unit failed to pick up the coordinates. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bob

New GOES 17 Satellite by Duster[_2_]
For those that use NASA/NOAA satellite imagery, there's a new one ready to launch in early 2019. Similar to GOES 16 last year, GOES 17 should provide an improvement in products including high spatial and temporal resolution (1min; sub 1km?). The testing phase is nearly complete; for early access:...

GTA OLC Speed Trophy by [email protected]
New for 2019 we will award a GTA OLC Speed Trophy to the registered GTA pilot that posts the best Region 5 OLC Speed Championship sum for the season. The OLC Speed championship puts more emphasis on speed than just the distance score of the classic OLC, so it fits more as racing. The emphasis is on...

Looking for A-14 (or similar) - Thread Drifting... by BobW
Warning!!! Intentional experiment of trying to intentionally 'drift a thread' by 'cold-starting' an entirely new, similarly-named, one without simply renaming one of the posts from the original one (which seems to cause some RASidents heartburn). Don't like today's result? Whine to the Ruler of...

There are shown several gliders soaring. A single place (JS1), a two place (something) and a 3 ship gaggle. Do we really want sunglasses with side shields while soaring? Hmmmm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9iFQ7AuYHc - John OHM Ω

Splitting the Gliding Magazine Into Single Pages by Tom BravoMike
I have two monitors attached to my PC, one positioned traditionally (landscape, horizontally), the other vertically (portrait), which I find perfect for many jobs. They act as one working area, but you can determine which apps open on which screen. As the "Gliding International" is published...

Duo Discus XT by Richard Frawley
HI Recently flew a 2008 Duo with the 5 bladed sustainer. Started very fast and beautifully with very little height loss. When it came to putting it away, it was, however, difficult to get it to stop rotating. Yes, put it half way retracted and yes, used the decompression to also slow it down as...
