Glider Cockpit Safety by
Kevin Christner
I think anyone who has read the "too many deaths" thread has been sobered. When we take to the air, we are accepting a far greater degree of risk than the vast majority every will. We do it because of the personal satisfaction we receive, which makes our lives brighter as a whole.
But I also...

Glider cockpit size by
[email protected]
I had exact same problem. I ‘tried’ on many gliders (I am 180). In szd-55 I could not close the canopy.
I fit comfortably in dg-300 (which I ended up buying) and I fit less comfortably in LS-4.
Aside from the size dg-300 is a dream...

Glider cockpit wanted for Simulator... anyone? by
flgliderpilot[_2_]
Hi, I'm interested in building a (Condor) glider simulator in my garage to introduce the local neighborhood kids to flying gliders, and to get my own daughter more into flying. I wish someone had introduced me to flying when I was a kid, I might have made a career of it instead of discovering it...

http://www.canadabizmart.com/bootstrapper/collection/spectacular-cockpit-photos/
This web site has some nice pictures of aircraft cockpits, including
two gliders. If you scroll down you will find an LS-4 flying
inverted.
What caught my eye is that there appears to be four (4) varios in...

Glider Collections by
Kevin Christner
I'm interested in finding out what some of the largest private collections of "classic" (roughly 1965-1975) are (Steve I already know you have about a gazillion...).
I currently have an Elfe S-3, Libelle 301, Diamant 17.2 and ASW-12. What do you own?

Glider computers - what's important? by
[email protected]
I have a datalogger, I have an IPAQ, and I have all the cabling etc.
I have spent considerable time at Cumulus Soaring, reading the
comparisons of glider software. What I lack is the experience to know
what is important. I've played with the features of SeeYou Mobile,
and frankly, most of the...

Glider Cross-country signoff & FARs by
Jamey Jacobs
In discussions with other US glider pilots recently, and based on a
quick search of the FARs, I believe that US pilots with PPL-Glider
rating do not need any endorsements or sign-off to go cross country.
If anyone knows differently, let me know.
Before there's lots of advice to get training, fly...

Glider cross-country time toward commercial SEL requrements? by
Matt Michael
I'm trying to determine if any of my glider cross-country time can be
applied to the commercial single engine aeronautical experience
requirements.
FAR 61.129 says "50 hours of cross-country flight of which at least 10
hours must be in airplanes".
FAR 61.1 defines cross country time as, among...

Glider crow-hops: by

I am a newly soloed student pilot, still flying the club's 2-seat trainer. I'll be moving to the club's single-seater soon. Then I hope to be allowed by my instructor to make solo flights in my own mid-performance sailplane that I bought before starting glider lessons. It was flown by advanced solo...
