FS : two Augusta gasoline engines by
John Bartley
Hello all,
These may be a bit heavy for an ultra-light, but I guess whoever has an
interest will know that better than I.
I have in my garage, two Augusta 42hp twin horizontal crankshaft and
cylinder gasoline engines in their factory crates. They were sold by
Augusta to the National Research...

I know Micbloo is a local. Does he or anyone else have any ideas about what to
do and see? Any recomdations for hotels? Get to bring my two...

ANR headset - which one?? by
Ol Shy & Bashful
Kev
The Clarks are OK, BOSE way expensive. I discovered a long time ago
that ear plugs under the headset did the same thing and a lot cheaper!
BTW, there is a question over in Just Helicopters in the new forum
regarding simulators. Thought you could give some good input there if
you choose to go...

I had a trial lesson today! by
Simon Robbins
I had an hour introductory lesson in an R22 today and loved every minute of
it. I've flown r/c helis and simulators for years so I was expecting to
have a lot of control familiarity, but I wasn't expecting it to be so
exhausting! The instructor introduced the controls to me one at a time and
I...

Lottery money still burning a hole in my pockets......
I was wondering what I could expect to get hourly from a TV station for an

Anyone have any experience of Helicopter Adventures, Florida? by
Simon Robbins
I'm looking into (financial) alternatives to doing my CPL(H) training in the
UK. Heli Adventures offer a JAA course in Florida (plus FAA and a work visa
for a year afterwards, which may or may not be useful). Anyone have any
direct experience of them?

Power needed for slow SAL vs hover... by
Nick
Is it true that a helicopter requires less power for slow straight and level
flight than for hovering? If so, anyone know any figures for say an
R22?......or even hazard a guess?
Cheers

I'm kinda hoping we can fly over to my kid's school and circle
overhead while they're at recess.
My kids got so tired of it, I don't really do it much anymore! Of course my
wifes (and mine to if I have to admit it) dog runs and goes crazy every time he
hears a helicopter. ...

Helicopter Linesman by
Mr Rogers
Did anyone happen to catch the documentary on the history channel about
using helicopters to check HV lines.
Fascinating stuff, very wild to see the heli some inches from a 300KV line
with a handler hanging out the side with a grounding line to the heli. At
some points you could see the arc jump...
