York (Ontario, Canada) Soaring web site down by Tony Verhulst
York Soaring has an excellent "what is soaring" on their web site. Unfortunately, the web site, http://www.yorksoaring.com/, has been out of action for a few weeks. Does any one know when (or if) it will be back up - or if there's al alternate URL? thanx Tony V.

Yippee! Soaring in Moriarty, NM by Chris
Did some soaring in Moriarty, NM (0E0) today to get prepared for my check ride. We did the boxing the wake (flying a vertical rectangle pattern behind the towplane), steep turns, stalls, slips. I did quite ok, so I hope to get my checkride soon. But it was really fun to ride the thermals of 8kn or...

Yikes, glad I don't have a Pegasus! by Greg Arnold
Do I correctly understand the AD below to mean that any Pegasus in the US with 3000 hours cannot be flown after January 6, 2006? Certainly would have an effect of the market value of this glider, even one with significantly less than 3000 hours. I notice that someone put one on the market today...

Yet more thoughts on Sports/club class by Bill Daniels
I susspect that anything as obvious as the following has been thought of and rejected for equally obvious reasons that I'm also not aware of. Anyway, here goes.... Why not adjust turn area tasks so that turn area diameters are porportional to a competitors handicap - i.e. small diameter turn...

Yet another source for US Airport Information by 2KA
Some years ago I wrote a program to extract airport information from the NASR data published by the FAA's National Flight Data Center. I've finally gotten around to putting a dumb little website around it, so that others can use it to build their own database extracts. The site produces .CUP files...

Yellow Gorilla Coming Up For Sale by Bob Youngblood
I will be departing with my beloved Yellow Gorilla Pawnee towplane in the near future. The new Towplane is named Towpecker and is another Pawnee, but a bit more HP. The Gorilla is a real beauty, extremely low time 180 HP Pawnee that is absolutely gorgeous. I really love this bird, it is a wonderful...

year-limits for the Sports class by [email protected]
I have been reading the threads about the Sports Class with interest. I note that currently the Sports Class tries to adjust for performance differences between older and newer gliders. I suspect this is always going to be hard since the performance difference between any two gliders is not...
