accident reports updated by
Hellman
I got the following message from Jim Herd today and, since he doesn't
post to RAS and this was important information, he said it would be OK
for me to post in his stead. I'll add some comments that I sent him as
the first reply on this thread:

Accident/Incident Checklist by
RN
Our club is reviewing emergency procedures.
Does anyone have a good checklist we might be able to use.
We would like to create a list of emergency numbers and contacts for
use by whoever is on the airport at the time.

Accidents resulting from medical issues by
Mike the Strike
In recent discussions on accidents, there seems to be an assumption that a common cause is older pilots losing control - perhaps forgetting after fifty years how to do a coordinated turn. I have long suspected that many accidents may have a medical component resulting from the pilot becoming...

Accidents/safety TV series by
Bill D
I have found the very excellent series "Air Accident Investigation" on
YouTube. Google "Air Accident Investigation", click "video", long (24
min+) then YouTube. This series focuses on airline accidents in the
last 1/2 century or so. However, the accidents, subsequent
investigations and the...

Acheiving Silver Distance 50KM by
Scott Alexander
Can just anyone be a witness to the 50km if you do a straight line distance
and land at another airport?
For example, if my wingrunner who is a commercial pilot, drags the trailer
to a declared airport 50km away and then come to pick me up there, can he
official witness this?
Will this count? ...

ACR AeroFix - Sale by
Paul Remde
Hi,
Now that ACR has release the new MicroFix personal ELT, I have decided to
sell my stock of the AeroFix units at a low cost to reduce inventory levels.
I have a limited supply for sale at $495. That is an extremely good deal on
a new portable ELT. You can see details...

gliderpilotGR
Hello,
would anyone have advice on what to do to repair long cracks on a blue-tinted canopy ?
I am sort of good at producing bubble-less repairs on regular plexi and wonder if there is a secret recipe or procedure to tint Acrifix
TIA,

Across Nevada and Part Way Back (long) by
Marry Daniel or David Grah
David Grah
The flight had been arranged for Wednesday out of my home airport at Bishop,
California, but the weather didn't look good enough that day for the flight
I hoped for. The weather forecast looked better on Thursday, 10 July 2003,
so, the flight would be that day. The main impact of the...

Act now before your wings are defaced by
[email protected]
Sorry, eh? I am sorry to interrupt your normally highly productive use of the internet. But your glider is at risk.
It is only time separating you from the obvious damage coming to your aircraft soon. When I bought my first glass ship, the competition letters had been applied with EXTENSIVE use of...

Active Cherokee II's by
Tony Condon[_2_]
Ive recently moved to Wichita, KS, and have had this question asked of me
several times, and I don't have a good answer. I know that supposedly
around 150 Cherokee II's were built worldwide. I only for certain know
of 2 that are still flying. Mine and David Standley's (im sure thats

Active Sync and XP Connection Problems by
Dave Springford
Last summer my IPAQ connected to my PC no problem. After resting for
the winter the IPAQ no longer connects to my PC. (It was kept charged
all winter)
When I plug into the USB, the XP system tray shows the USB device
being installed and then says your device is ready to use. The IPAQ
shows the...

ActiveSync for Vista by
Dennis[_3_]
Greetings from a new member. I read the previous posts regarding this
subject but did not discern a consensus. I have a new laptop with
Vista and an old PDA (Ipaq5555) with PocketPC2003. ActiveSync 4.x is
designed for Vista, but doesn't support PocketPC. (supposedly) Must I
convert the 5555 to...

Actual Rope Break by
Kevin Christner
I had my first "rope break" ever today. I was approximately 200-250ft above the ground. Emergency procedures were not a problem.
The Tost released for some reason. Its a nose hook so the back release mechanism could not have been the culprit. Further testing with the wheel break on the ground...

AD - ouch!! (USA) by
[email protected]
I see in the 18M nationals Day 1 results that two pilots got zapped for
airspace violations.
I find the applied rule (12.2.5.5.2, "100 plus loss of all
daily points") to be somewhat curious. It means that a pilot who flies
the minimum distance while nicking an airspace before landing out...
