2 aircraft cleared onto the same runway at the same time by Tom Fleischman
This was a new one for me. I was IFR this afternoon out of HPN for short practice flight. I was in sequence number two at the runway waiting for departure. As the tower controller cleared the Cessna in front of me to position and hold, he asked him his direction of flight. The Cessna pilot...

2 pilot/small airplane CRM by Mitty
Can anyone point me to web or print resources with discussion of how to best utilize two pilots in small airplanes? Who does what, etc. I have found lots of airline-level material but really nothing that relates to flying light singles. Or maybe someone who regularly flies with a pilot spouse? ...

Probably one for AOPA..... Hopefully those that get avionic upgrades that include their nav take this posting to heart.... What happened to me could have turned quite ugly, and fortunately things worked out OK since I am here to post this. Did some ILS approaches over HKS. Perfect day for...

430 and King KAP150 in Australia by Keith Campbell
I have a Mooney 201 with Garmin 430 and King KAP150 autopilot which both seem to work OK individually but when I couple the Autopilot using the NAV button it works OK for the first 10 seconds and the nav commands release and the aircraft slowly tracts in a large circle ( if I let it).If I hit the...

430 Question by smf
This has probably been discussed before but here goes. Why is it that some of the published DP's aren't in the data base? Such as the south fla. area. FLL, FXE and HWO don't have any dp's in the data base. Mia has 2 but there are several more for the area. thanks steve

430 question by smf
I fly out of KHWO (N. Perry) in busy south florida. I just moved here and started filing and flying out of here. My 430 doesn't seem to have DP or Standard arrivals listed with HWO. It has them for nearby FLL and MIA and OPA-Locka. Can I insert them into the flight plan page manually ? What is...

430/530 Back Course Question... by Bill Hale
Here's one for U all. 530s. Or as we learned in Melborne FL, home of the 27 Back Course LOC approach, all-y'all is the plural. When selecting VLOC mode, the thing behaves correctly on a BC approach... you set the ILS FRONT COURSE on the yellow arrow HSI course datum, and inbound on the BC, the...

430W/When does the glideslope register by scott moore
Keep in mind I tried out my new 430W install for the first time today. I tried a few sample approaches, really outstanding. The 430W makes you want to try full (not vectored) approaches because it essentially automates everything. It will hold on the approach hold, start the approach on its own...

50KHz Glideslope? by VOR-DME
Who knows something about 50KHz spacing for glideslope receptors? Traditionally we have 40 GS frequencies, with 150KHz spacing from 329.15MHz to 335 MHz. But I see European ILS's requiring "50KHz Glideslope spacing". Anyone know what receptors do this? Or why we would want to do this? 8.33...
