AirGuide Publications FlightGuide Update Delays by
George Sconyers
How are those that are using AirGuide Publications FlightGuide finding the
timeliness of their bi-annual updates? It seems to me that they are running
quite a but behind as of late with the updates - but not on their billing
for the next year.
For those that have been using them for some time,...

PIREP: nulite instrument lights by
Bob Noel
While I was down because of surgery I had the mechanic put
in nulites on the six-pack, the clock, and the suction gauge
(the turn coordinator was already lit). Tonight was the first
night I got to fly at night and these nulites beat the red
overhead light every which way. way cool
Highly...

Garmin GpsMap 396 - Flight Test #4 by
Mike Spera
Yesterday we planned on a proposed flight 50 miles away for dinner with
a light GA airplane newbie on board . The radar at home showed a very
narrow band of showers to the Northwest on a SW - NE line marching SE
towards us. The rain was limited to the lightest 2 green shades with an
occasional...

Instrument and panel lights in 152 by
TNap
I just upgraded the radio stack from the Cessna radios and audio
panel to a Garmin package (audio panel, 430 and transponder).
I noticed that the instrument panel light (red overhead) is now
on what appears to be near full intensity when in the off position.
When I rotate the control to highest...

747 Lawnmower ?..............Yes, this is real, a flying Lawnmower by
Hansi
If you up there in the Cockpit, look out of the window and see an
Lawnmower, don't be alerted, you are not crazy. They now have flying
Lawnmowers. The same group of Hobby-ingenieurs also developed a flying
doghouse and working on a flying Washmachine and a flying...

Garmin 396 Auto Kit by
Mike Spera
On the Garmin site, it looks like the "City Select" CD set has been
replaced by the "City Navigator" CD set. There is no price listed for
City Select, but there are prices for City Navigator. Are they different
products or is this a replacement? Some avionics shops are selling kits
with the...

'87D gets a makeover - 3 by
Dan Luke
The interior is finished. The work was done at Southern Avionics' new shop
at Mobile Downtown Airport.
http://tinyurl.com/gj5kt
It took 3-1/2 weeks and, according to their manager, went 90% over their
labor estimate. He is somewhat in shock about how long it took--it was
their first small...

Service Manuals by
RST Engineering
Somebody got away with one of my Piper service manuals, probably by
accident, but gone nonetheless.
Seems somebody on this ng was telling about a new service that has them
reprinted on CDROM. Can anybody point me to this source?

Anywhere Map WX vs Garmin 396 by
Kyle Boatright
From my buddies at the airport to this newsgroup, there is a lot of interest
in the Garming 396. No doubt it is a fine system with great features.
Why don't I hear anyone talking about the AnywhereMap WX, which seems to
have a roughly equivalent feature set for $800-$1,000 less up front...

The Joys of Aircraft Ownership 1,532 & 1,533 by
Brock Boss
Last Saturday my brother/co-owner and I had planned on taking our
fresh-out-of-annual 172 up for a good workout at our home base in
Lincoln, IL (Logan County - KAAA). I'm a 14 hour student pilot on
hiatus. I got sick of paying to fly in other people's airplanes. My
brother, Brad, got his ticket in...

High time or missing logs? by
[email protected]
Hey folks,
I'm trying to decide which is preferable, a relatively low time plane
with missing logs or a higher time of the same model with all logs.
The first is a 65-year old plane with 1800 ttaf and 346 tsmoh. It's
missing the airframe logs from 1986 and older.
The other has about 3000 ttaf...

oil blow out IO-360 by
Robert M. Gary
I have an IO-360-A3B6 900 SFNEW in '97. I used to be able to keep about
7 quarts in it without it blowing out. Now it seems to be blowing oil
down to about 5.5 quarts. Since I live in the 100F OATs part of the
country, the extra oil really helps cooling.
Should I worry about what is causing the...

Stromberg Parts by
Tri-Pacer
I am in need of a spring P8770 part of the mixture control for a Stromberg

Can anyone give me a lead? My best bet was El Reno but they say it's made of
unobtainium.
Thanks

Oshkosh '06 Coffee Cup by

I have an unbroken string of dated Oshkosh coffee cups (mugs) going back to

send me one from this year's show. I believe that the EAA Warehouse store
will pack for shipment and there is a post office on the field if that...

Cessna 172B Avionics Install by
[email protected]
Okay, so I found a shop that will install everything for real cheap.
Anyone ever installed a new panel, avionics stack, or redone their
panel? Should be fun to see what comes out of this, since right now
I've got issues here and there. Still looking for a hangar though....
