Barometer Setting in Europe question... Altitudes in 100' multiples? by
All this information is very helpful... I thank you all. Needing to account for
Transition Altitudes and Levels in some potential software, I will take
this all into account. It wasn't stated directly, but can I presume these
altitudes are always a multiple of 100 feet? (In airspaces where english...

AOPA supports cell phones in GA aircraft by
Cub Driver
From the Aero-News Propwash newsletter this morning:

able to use cell phones in the cockpit while they're airborne. And
they should be able to do it now. That's what...

Theft From Baggage-Continental by
[email protected]
On a trip from PDX-HOU-GPT yesterday on Continental Airlines, my "Pubs
Bag" was stolen out of one of my checked bags. If any are familiar with
this kind of bag...about 14"X16"x4", it held much of my flight gear
such as GPS 12XL, Sectionals, plotter, Jep CR-5, flashlights, knife,
Leatherman, gloves,...

Aircraft tracking laser by
Louis L. Perley III
A company called ThinkGeek is now selling a aircraft tracking laser. It
hooks up to the internet via a number of sources online to identify
aircraft in the area and then tries to target them. It plugs into your
computers USB port. Not a bad price at that!...

Money for a new aircraft by
[email protected]
A little while back, I was browsing these newsgroups, just like you
are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you
could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial
investment of $5.00 ! So I thought, "Yeah, right, this must be a
scam", like most of us, but I...

Competition for Trade-A-Plane launched tonight by
Montblack
Trade-A-Plane (TAP) has some new competition I learned tonight.
If you own an airplane AND are a pilot, you will receive a (FREE)
subscription to a new buying guide, Aircraft Owner (AO).
I think the first Vol. went out tonight. 125,000 copies shipped.
Take that TAP.

Well, now it is over. The trip started on March 11th and...

Pharmaceuticals vs flying by
Yossarian
Hi, is there a site that lists prescription drugs that have an adverse
effect on flying? Does the FAA have a site like that? I'm poking around
but can't find jack.

Back in the saddle - flying again! by
GEG
ALRIGHT! That felt good!
After a 2 year hiatus, I'm back in the saddle again!
I was so mentally ready!
Although I've only flown 4 times (last year once for a 20-minute
hop in a Piper Tri-Pacer tail dragger on a grass strip), I hit
the rectangular patterns, maintained altitude on turns, hit
my...

OSH Go Arounds by
jsmith
The "Go Around... NOW" thread go me to thinking about how to properly
execute a go-around at OSH AirVenture.
Last year I had to execute one after the aircraft I was following failed
to maintain the proper speed to the runway and proceded to land short of
his designated "dot".
We were landing 27 and...

GA in Houston by
[email protected]
I'm planning a trip to Houston in April to pick up some friends. They
will be taking part in an event at the convention center earlier in the
day, so I'm looking for an airport close to downtown. I've taken a look
at Hobby. Any feedback/suggestions?

From Sequim Valley Apt (WA) to Olympic Discovery Trail by
Ben Jackson
It looks like the Olympic Discovery Trail runs just south of the
Sequim Valley Airport runway, but the ramp is on the north side.
Is there easy access to the trail from the airport? Is there a
boundary fence on the south side?

Hawthorne CA to San Francisco flight planning by
Yossarian
I'm planning my longest XC yet, from Hawthorne CA to (most likely) Hayward
Executive up by San Francisco. This will be a day VFR flight in a C172SP
in mid to late April. I'm pretty close to getting my instrument rating and
have 120 hours.
I'd like to get opinions on the route. The two choices I...

Mig 21 @ OSH by
[email protected]
I'm going to ask the collective wisdom:
I remember in my comings and goings at OSH every summer a collection of
classic jets, including a Mig 21. (but I remember a Hunter, Mig 15,
Fouga?) Usually parked over by the warbird area. Are they owned by EAA?
Are they airworthy? Where are they kept?
I...
