Colibri and Winpilot PRO by [email protected]
Several websites that sell Colibris say that "Versions later than 2.1 include full SeeYou Mobile/WinPilot PRO support." Does this mean that the climb maximizer function will work if a PDA running WP PRO is hooked up to a Colibri only? This seems to contradict the info on the Winpilot...

Sport Pilot and Glider Questions by Ralph Steiner
I hope to get both the Sport Pilot and Private Glider certificates. Which order would be best to get them in - would Sport Pilot be better to get first or last? I am especially interested in a motorglider called the Virus (what an unfortunate choice of name!). Does a glider certificate let you...

which sailplane to start again? by freestone
I received my glider rating back in the 80's but didnt do much with it (have been flying tailwheel and floats). Now I would like to start up again, and live in SF. What do you recommend for a sailplane? Any good places? And this whole motorized or self start didnt exist when I got my rating. ...

IPAQ 5555 help by [email protected]
I recently bought a Ipaq 5555. It worked fine until yesterday. I am now getting this error code when turned on. I had to do a "micro" physical adjustment to the recessed lock tab on the back of the Ipaq to get it positively lock into the flight cradle. Now this is the message I get: "Failed to...

LS4 Water valve control rod wanted by Frank
I managed to lose one of the two approximately 18" metal water-valve control rods for my LS-4 (don't ask - its a long and embarrasing story). This is the rod that extends from the pilot control on the right side of the cockpit back to the bulkhead. I contacted the factory (now DG) about obtaining a...

Wing Bending Oscillation by jcarlyle
On my ASW-19B's airworthiness test report there's an entry for "rate of wing bending oscillation". Two questions: 1. Why would a pilot want to know this frequency? Flutter prevention? Attachment integrity? 2. How would he go about obtaining it? Accelerometer and frequency counter?...

Seeking Self-Launching Intelligence by Thatcher Smith
I would be grateful for any opinions, web searches don't seem to reveal much... I am considering purchasing a self-launcer, likely in Ventus, ASH26, or DG808 guise and would like to know: -do those of you who operate these or similar machines ever lose soaring days due to malfunctions in the...

DG AD Note - Just Inspect or Must Fix? by ContestID67
I decided to start a new thread on this topic as my question is more specific. In the DG technical note (TN301/23, 323/14, 359/21 or 826/44) it provides three solutions (paraphrased below): 1) Inspect the bearing and if all is ok, leave it alone. 2) If the bearing is loose, peen it over to hold...

Hi all, Back in 1996 Schleicher issued a mandatory inspection requirement for the metal structiure of the Ka8 fuselage. I have recently obtained a Ka8 which unfortunately doesn't have log book. I am assured that all the inspections and mods were carried out (the glider wwas previously owned by a...

Just a reminder: 1. This is an international group, please include location. Not all news reader software show the posters e-mails so even those with country id's in their e-mail should include it anyway. 2. If possible put a price so we can avoid the inevitable "what is the price" secondary...
