wave flight in kansas by Robert Holliday
Sunday was a good day for soaring. I was able to soar in clear air to 16,053 ft MSL for an altitude gain of over 13K near Hutchinson Ks. My question is did anyone else experience similar conditions in the flatlands?

Off topic - Metric Nuts by Paul Remde
Hi, This post is a bit off-topic, but it relates to the soaring goosenecks I sell. The require M10 x 1mm pitch nuts. I've been trying for months to find small, thin (3 mm or less) nuts for the goosenecks. All the US suppliers I've contacted can supply metric nuts with the right inner diameter...

Mylar seals installation by John W
I have some almost new mylar seals that are coming unstuck. Last year I had my wings at the shop. They got a new coat of wax and new mylars were installed. I'm guessing the process of waxing and the sticking of the mylars became somewhat merged, hence my current problem. So now I'm going to...

wave over Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and W Pennsylvania today by Bob Mowry
Anyone else notice this on today's visible satellite images/their ride home from work? I was looking at: http://wwwghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/goeseastconus.html and it seems like this started to form later in the day and covered a decent part of each of these states. I'm wondering if this wave...

McCready Speed ring for ASW-20 by Jeff Dorwart
Hello, Anyone still flying with a speed ring on their -20. I am planning to buy a blank from Tim and would like a transfer/photo from one of the factory ones so I can make the engraving look somewhat professional. Like everyone else I have it on the PDA but would prefer to duplicate it...

First Estonian gliding casuality in 17 years by iPilot
In May 1-th - the day we got in to the EU - a Blanik broke in the middle of the flight. Possible reason - overspeed on spin exit. Possible cause for overspeed - not known yet. Pilot exited, but too low and parachute had no time for opening. Sad story with sad ending. We have one glider pilot...

Wanted Sparrowhawk by David Bingham
I am looking for a Sparrowhawk new/used with or without a trailer. Immediate cash. I am often asked why do I want one when I have a DG800B, a Stemme S10-VT and several paragliders. I think the Sparrowhawk is possibly the most interesting glider development in the past 10 years and it would complete...

hi, i posted a message on this board last year - see below - asking advice for a GPS to record the "flights" i make with my wingsuit from aircraft / cliffs. I purchased an Garmin etrex vista in the end and am very satisfied with the results. If anyone is interested in seeing the resulting data...

Last season for BLIPS? by Stewart Kissel
I was reviewing the Dr Jack site and his subscription message, he sounds as if the workload means this may be the final season. He sent out the message for those like me who have become quite dependant on them to beware. Let's take advantage of them while they still exist.

Soaring's decline SSA club poll by Craig Freeman
In the result's from the SSA club poll fourty seven percent of responding club's said they did not want large numbers of new members. Maybe the word "large" caused clubs who would want some new members to answer in the negative. Maybe this indicates that there is no more room in half of the...

Kansas Wave Flight by Steve
Yes, we had a wave day in Kansas on Sunday. Only one person was able to connect and get any significant altitude. For those seriously interested in wave not generated by mountains, you might want to get all the data you can from near Hutchinson, Kansas on May 2, 2004, between about 1:30 PM CDST...
