Curve fitting to airfoil coordinates by
Larry Goddard
I was trying to use Autocad to plot the airfoil shape for eventually
creating leading edge templates. In doing so I came up with a couple of
questions.
I started with the coordinates from the UIUC database.

What I wanted to come out with was...

Thermal to Wave contact! by
C.Fleming
Last weekend was the first time I've ever been able to thermal up to a
wave -- what an experience!
The whole flight was bizarre. The weather conditions were scattered to
broken stratus clouds at about 4,000 feet AGL, with weak instability below
the clouds and calm surface winds.
I hadn't flown...

IPAQ 3630 question by
Martin Gregorie
I recently bought an IPAQ 3630 off eBay. I'm happy with it but its
battery is definitely on the way out.
Judging by the number of replacement batteries advertised on eBay it
is possible to replace it if you know what you're doing; I don't but
am willing to learn, so my question is:
- is there a...

U.S. Low Level aerobatic waivers by
Soarin Again
Could someone direct me to the site that gives the
specifics on getting a low level aerobatic waiver valid
for carrying passengers? So far I have been unable
to find this data on the net and I have done a pretty
good search on the IAC and NAA sites.

What happens if a sailplane has no horiz stabilizer or elevator? by
Mark James Boyd
There are some designs which have no horizontal stab: flying wings
for example. There are also canard setups (the speed canard, for example).
For a sailplane, I was thinking about how one might design away
the typical T-tail stabilizer and elevator.
First of all, how much dynamic stability does...

Will there be a Region 10 Contest this year??? by
Gary Emerson
If someone is thinking about doing it, they should make some noise now
while people can still schedule their vacation or everyone will just go
to Region 9 or an eastern Regional contest....
Nothing showing on the SSA site and the last two years have
unfortunately been a bust for region 10.

2004 Salida, Colorado-260hp Pawnee ops by
Stewart Kissel
A Pawnee is now in Chaffee County, Colorado. It will
be towing starting this spring. For those passing
through on the way to Region 9 Parowan, or for anyone
who has not experienced Colorado high country and big
air, well worth visiting. Boomer thermals, pleasant
temperatures, and a friendly,...

Commercial: CAI and Cumulus by
Paul Remde
Hi,
Many of you who follow this newsgroup know that Cambridge Aero Instruments
has had a tough couple of years. Their products have always been very nice,
but other issues have led to confusion for customers in regard to the future
of the company. I was a dealer for them in 2003 and I have now...

Soaring Hell - Arizona by
Michael Stringfellow
I'm not going to submit anywhere in Arizona as a candidate for "Best Soaring
Site". At least down here in the Phoenix area, we can only soar reliably
for about nine months of the year. Soaring conditions are a bit spotty from
November through January (we only made about 100 miles cross-country...

Vario time constants by
Bill Daniels
I have been conducting some bench experiments with my Bohli taut-band
bellows with capillary leak vario to determine the system time constant.
The set-up is a 0.45 liter glass vacuum flask attached to the vario with .5
meter of 3mm Tygon tubing with a 1cc syringe teed into the tubing at the
flask. ...

Sites near Chamonix by
David McIlroy
I would definitely endorse CSVVA at Challes les Eaux
(Chambery). A brilliant fleet, superb site, lots of
atmosphere and cameraderie and pretty cheap (winch
and aerotow). Knowledge of French a definite advantage
but I suppose that goes for almost every French club.
I have about 20 hours flying there...

"Where never Lark nor Eagle Flew...." by

Fellow r.a.s.'ers:
Tell me about the Lark.
I don't yet know which model, but I hear that our club is about to acquire
one.
Should I be ecstatic, or concerned?

Osceola, Wisconsin Glider Operation? by
Scott
I'm looking for a place to get soaring instruction and I see the glider
symbol on the airchart near Osceola, WI. Does anybody know if they have a
commercial operation there (if so, any contact info?) or is it just some
local glider owners?
Thanks!

White Sands Soaring Association is pleased to invite all soaring pilots
(motorglider or pure--does not matter) to a Soaring Fiesta over Memorial
