stowing horizontal stabilizer on tail boom in trailer by [email protected]
I have seen a glider trailer in which the aircraft's horizontal stabilizer is strapped to the glider's tail boom for storage and transport. I can't recall where I saw this, and a google image search did not yield any hits. At any rate, strapping the horizontal stabilizer to the tail boom is one...

Stowing water? by [email protected]
I am finding the summer heat to be quite difficult to manage in the southwestern USA. At the moment I have just been shoving a water bottle in my pocket but this proves to be somewhat uncomfortable and more of a pain in the rear to remove and use which makes me not drink as much as I maybe should....

strange ASI readings on LXNAV s80 vs Winter ASI by Matt Herron Jr.
looking for some instrument debugging help. I have a steam gauge ASI (winter) and an LxNav S80 sharing the same Pitot and static lines. In the air, the two gauges read ASI differently. The S80 reads about 10 knots higher than the Winter at 70 knots, and 5 knots higher at 40 knots. The error...

Strange jump in IGC file recorded on iPhone by [email protected]
Last Sunday, I gave 3 rides in the club's L-23 and recorded them using the SeeYou app on my iPhone 4S. Flights have been uploaded to SkyLines with the 3rd one (https://www.skylines-project.org/flights/26873/) showing the anomaly. Near the time of my release, the altitude jumps almost 1,000' and...

Streifeneder GFS seals by Catherine Conway
Hi Has anyone fitted these seals? I ordered them for our Ventus but am having problems figuring out how the bottom seals work. A photo would be great! I have the teflon tape but 2mm glue line to the wing seems a little small. I'm assuming "Falzband" means the narrowmylar tape and that it should...

Strictly gliders? by Jim Buckridge
Anyone know offhand what percentage of those with their glider rating ONLY have their glider rating? Seems where I am everyone who flies gliders has their PPL as well. But most of them seem to prefer soaring :-)

String in the middle does not protect you from a spin by Jim
I think the recent threads on spinning have been wonderful. I find them a great help to focusing on such an important issue. Somewhere in my dark student-pilot experiences I was shown that coordinated flight, with the yaw string kept carefully in the middle, does not guarantee against spin entry....
