Database update for Foster LRN-500 loran? by
Ray Andraka
Anyone know if I can get a database update for a Foster500
Loran, and if so where from and how much it costs? I
wouldn't bother except my autopilot is connected to it, and
the existing database is old enough that some of the airport
ID's have changed for ICAO, and one or two VORs have...

David Clark 13.4 by
Kobra
Flyers,
If anyone is looking for a nice David Clark aviation headset I have one for
sale on ebay: http://tinyurl.com/q9n2p
I just upgraded to the Bose Aviation X, but it still breaks my heart to sell
these. They are just as comfortable as the Bose, they provide great noise
attenuation and...

David Clark Isocom - how does it work? by
John Clonts
We have this intercom unit in our 210 and it has worked fine in the
four years we have owned the plane.
http://www.davidclark.com/IntercomSys/isocom.htm
However, there is the toggle switch on the unit labeled "Isocom". We
have always left this switch in the "Off" position, because if we...

Anyone try these at OSH? How to they compare to the Bose? I may be in
the market for a headset... I wish the Bose had music input though!

Davis Clark ISOCOM pinouts by
Wayne
Working on a 172 with an ISOCOM panel mount intercom. There are no jacks
on the rear seats. Anyone have the pinouts for the unit? I've never got to
see the instructions for an intercom and wondered how they are wired so the
PTT only works for the guy that pushes the button. I assume that the...

Dawley Aviation PIREP, or: Atlas is BACK by
Jay Honeck
We were grounded last week, after discovering a cracked exhaust pipe and
rotted muffler baffles during routine maintenance.
Amazingly, we discovered that Dawley Aviation (*the* exhaust repair station
in the Midwest, and the place my A&P recommended) is located in Burlington,
WI -- literally on the...

Day of purchase contract? by
Dico
Hello all,
Is there such a thing as a "day of purchase" contract? We've done a
title/lien search and all, but it'll be a couple weeks til the sale
actually happens. In that time a purchaser could put a new lien on the
plane. What do you do to protect yourself against this? Is there some
sort...

Days as a hanger rat by
Jack Allison
I think I've logged about four days of hanger rat duty over the past two
weeks. Still have a long way to go in terms of accommodations (chairs,
table, shelves, etc...but having your own hanger sure makes it more fun
(and, IMHO, justifiable) to hang around the airport.
Yesterday's mission: bug...

De-icing by
Kobra
Flyers,
I went to fly on Thursday and low and behold my baby was covered with a half
inch of snow and ice. I could brush off the top 1/4 inch of snow, but the
bottom 1/4 inch was ice that was welded to the airframe.
I remembered that an instructor told me back in my primary training, that
you...

Dead DG by
mbremer216
Well, it looks like my directional gyro just went belly up. When I went for
a ride today, the setting knob was very sticky, and then suddenly not sticky
at all as it now rotates freely and doesn't feel like it is engaging
anything. The gyro card does not rotate with the knob.
I have a Cherokee...

Dead Glideslope needle by
Jim Burns
We've got a dead glideslope needle on our #1 indicator. (KI-209 driven by a
KX155 12v) GS flag works, needle stays centered.
I dug through our log books and noticed that this also happened in 2002 and
was repaired by "repair to aircraft wiring". I contacted the avionics shop
that did the work...

Debonair performance? by
Brinks
I've been out looking at the early Debonairs with the IO-470-J or -K in
them. The books I've looked at and the info in TAP say they cruise at 148
knots (I'm assuming at 75% power), and I was wondering if there was anyone
out there who had any "real" numbers on cruise speeds. Thanks!
Chris
