What's the point in such camo schemes... by Bonehammer
....as those applied to the Backfire and Fencer? I know of anti-radiation white applied to the underside of nuclear bombers, but the reason of white leading edges on the Su-24 escaps me - seems 'anti'camouflage. Perhaps it helps in disguising the shape of the 'incoming' from visible/IR sensors on...

C-5 longevity by Eric Moore
With the appropriate upgrades, the C-5 can last for another 25 years or so. See: http://aviationnow.com/avnow/news/channel_aerospacedaily_story.jsp?id=news/glxy07164.xml Is it worthwhile to upgrade the C-5's, or should we just build more C-17's?

Question for Art Kramer. by M. H. Greaves
Hi Art I know you flew or were in B26's; did you fly with or know/meet any of the Tokyo raiders, such as Ski York, Col' Frank Keppeler? Later in the war they were transferred to England and the ETO and flew B26's out of England,France and Belgium, just wondered whether you knew any of them. Mark.

Beaufighter NF coded RX-A, July 1942, UK by Krztalizer
Got a couple nifty photos in today - both sourced from a 456 RAAF Beaufighter crewman. One is of great interest to me as it shows four members of the unit - a 2-man flight crew, an erk, and a jovial sort that is making a show of wearing a wireless set connecting him to the flightcrew. These people...

My good friend and I are having a debate over the German Albatros fighter in WW1 and I need some help. Can anyone answer the following: 1) In 1918 which fighters formed the majority of the Imperial German Flying Corps- Albatros or Fokkers? My friend says Fokkers, I disagree. 2) Even though the...
