Pressurized Skymaster by
I'm interested in hearing from people who have direct knowledge regarding
the care and feeding of the P337. I have always admired the design and I
think it has a lot to offer for the money on the current used market. I have
read everything I can get my hands on, and I have talked to many of...

Prestolite Starter Sticking by
ShawnD2112
I've got a problem with my Prestolite starter which I was hoping someone
here might be able to help me out with. The pinion gear that engages the
starter ring gets stuck in the retracted position and won't come forward
when I engage the ignition key. It just whirs in place inside the casing.
I...

Price Drop on Garmin 396 - $2195 by
[email protected]
Just went in to the avionics shop today to check on the installation
work they are doing (SL-40 COM, PS-4000 intercom/panel, & G396 wired to
both). Turns out that Garmin just cut the price $300 on the 396 so its
now at $2195.
Anyway, if anyone has been out there waiting, looks like Garmin...

Price gap between 100LL and autogas by
M
Currently the price gap between 100LL and 87 unleaded, on a national
average basis, is approximately $1.50, give and take. That's quite a
bit higher than say 1997, I remember the gap was definitely below $1.
The total consumption of 100LL will continue to drop in the years to
come, caused by high...

Price of Fuel, etc. by
Mike Spera
I would imagine higher fuel/insurance/operating costs will drive the
trends already in motion. Namely, more shared ownership, less private (1
person) ownership, and either a shift towards owners in a higher income
bracket, or fewer owners overall as the ones struggling with the expense
drop...

Pricing a '74 Archer by
Mike Noel
I'm trying to decide what is a fair price for this aircraft. I looked at
the asking price of 74 Archers in Trade-a-Plane and saw prices ranging from
the high 40's to the high 50's. I used the TAP estimator and came up with
about 52K. This plane is in good condition in and out, has older...

Pricing flight hours by
Andrew Gideon
I'd like to acquire the available wisdom on pricing flight time (though I'll
forgo standing on a single leg for now {8^). This is for a club, but I'm
sure it's the same problem for a partnership or even a single owner. The
only difference is that a club has multiple aircraft, but we price...

Priming the engine and Mag check questions by
JDupre5762
A person told me it is better to push the primer slowly rather
then quick shots.
Slower is better on pulling out the primer as this allows the primer cylinder
to draw in all the fuel it can take. Pushing the charge in quickly is probably
best as the velocity may help in atomizing the...

Private Pilot Uniforms by
Frank[_11_]
I am anticipating getting my private certificate in the not-too-distant future. I know this may sound like a real dorky thing to some people, which is why I am reluctant to ask my instructor, but I was thinking about getting a uniform.
I do not want to do anything against any "protocol", nor...

Problem using Thunderbird for newsgroups ?? by

I'm using Mozilla/Firefox instead of M$ Internet Explorer. I've also
switched over to (free) Thunderbird, from using M$ Outlook Express 6.0. (So
far I'm OK-happy with this combination)
I've been reading these newsgroups with Outlook Express since 1998. I'm
familiar with it and I like it. Comfort...

Problems with Rapco dry vacuum pumps. by
abripl
Just a warning for those who might consider purchasing Rapco dry vacuum
pumps. Make sure that your engine does not leak oil. If there is any
chance of an oil drip onto the Rapco vacuum pump it may eventually stop
working. The connecting shaft is vented to air. But if some oil drops
on the shaft it...

Project 172, sitting outside, uncovered for 18 years! by
Wayne
The guy that owns the private strip that I fly out of got a 172 project.
What a project, this guy has better luck than me though. The airframe has
less than 1000 hours TT and the plane has been sitting, outside for 18
years! The body looks very good, much of the paint is actually missing but
the...
