Took the Kids Up (First Time) by
Marco Leon
Things fell into place this past weekend to finally take the kids up in the
airplane. Their grandma's birthday, a nice high-pressure over New York, our
original weekend plans falling through and relatively cooler weather all
made for the right opportunity to cut a 6-hour car ride down to a...

Best Clubs/Rentals in Tucson? by
Chris Schmelzer
I just moved to Tucson and have found it very difficult to find a
listing of all the potential rental airplanes and flying clubs to
checkout in the area!
Any ideas?

From Avweb... by
john smith
Customs pilots have gone to great lengths to try to keep the F-16s from
becoming involved, to the point of crafting handmade signs with the
emergency frequency on them and waving them at pilots of target aircraft
through the Citation's cockpit windows. Cox said that in the end, they
just painted...

"gaits" for 172RG by
[email protected]
Hi guys. I just got checked out in my club's Cutlass for the purpose of
getting started on my commercial rating. In that vein, I haven't done
any instrument work in the AC yet -- working on the commercial rating
is an interesting opportunity toget out of the mental world of
instrument flying and...

Entering GPS waypoints by
Doug
GPS is great. It's revolutionized small plane navigation. But one thing
that bugs me is that there are two or even possibly three ways of
entering a GPS waypoint.
DD MM SS Degrees minutes seconds which is how we were taught in
school
DD MM.XX Degrees minutes and 10ths and 100ths of...

LSA instructor? by
[email protected]
I'm just back from OSH late last night as well. Had a good time, got
totally sunburned and enjoyed the show. A couple of questions came up,
and everyone I asked seemed to have a different opinion (which happens
when you don't have the FAR/AIM books at hand out on the Flight
line)....
1. I thought...

Moving Map: North-Up vs. Track-Up by
Kai Glaesner
Hello,
ran into a discussion with a pilot-friend-of-mine on sunday about how to set
up our GNS430 on a short IFR Trip.
I prefer a North-Up mode, because it makes it easier for me to corelate
what's on the screen with the paper-charts I have on my kneeboard.
He wanted it to be in either Track-Up...

Intercom Question by
[email protected]
We just joined a flying club with a 1976 Piper Warrior. The airplane has a
two-place intercom. I own four headsets and plan to occasionally take
friends up in the back seats. Is there such a thing as an adapter I could
plug into one of the existing headset jacks that I could then plug...

Atlantic City by
Brad Salai
A friend has convinced me that we should go down to Atlantic City for a day
of walking the Boardwalk, and taking in the sites.
Any thoughts about Atlantic City Muni (Bader Field) vs Atlantic City Int.?

As a follow-on to recent discussions of the shuttle or manned space
exploration in several threads on these two groups, an illustration of
one of NASA's current concepts for future space exploration vehicles is

Who has bought a new Garmin 396? by
Paul kgyy
I hear Garmin sold 3000 of these at Osh.
I've had the AnywhereMap system for a year now and find the system has
been prone to losing the XM weather.
I'd like to hear from 396 users how reliable the weather link has been,
particular from people that don't fly regularly.

Andover - Aeroflex, NJ For Sale by
Guy Elden Jr
Hi everyone...
A co-worker jokingly asked me if I wanted to buy an airport, so I
jokingly replied, "sure!" It turns out the airport that's for sale is
Andover-Aeroflex airport in Sussex County, NJ, one of the most charming
strips of pavement this side of the Mississippi. The runway is bordered

Too many people start out in aviation without any idea of what to
expect or with too many options and not enough information. They make
their training more difficult, costly and frustrating than it should
be. Our site is designed to help you begin and finish your training in

Any good aviation clip-art? by

I'm looking for a source for quality aviation-related clip-art (eps or
similar format, i.e vector images editable in Illustrator or FreeHand).
Anybody know of some good sources?
I see aircraft silhouettes and other good quality line drawings in all
the aviation print publications (usually in ads...

Welcome back, Discovery by
Dave
I watched you and imagined this morning. I thought about past
endeavours; sucesses and failures.
I prayed.
Gliding that rock dead stick from 8 grand down to 300 must be the
ultimate!!
Congratulations, NASA Keep the ball rolling
I hope the concept of humans actually flying is not banished.
