Umbrella insurance for pilots? by
SeattleFlyer
I was reading my umbrella insurance policy recently, and I saw that
they don't cover any liabilities related to my use or owning of
aircraft. Needless to say I would rather give my money to a company
that didn't have this exclusion. Does anyone have an umrella policy
that covers flying, if so can...

Unauthorized Laser Illumination Event by
Marco Leon
That's the official term to be used in describing what happened to me
yesterday. I went to HFD for the LDA approach for something different and I
sure got something different alright. Saw a flash out of the corner of my
eye. First I thought it was fireworks, then an airport beacon, then I...

Uncontrolled Engine Compartment Fire Possible for Cessna 172R, 172S, 182T, T182T, 206H, and T206H Models by
Larry Dighera
If I were renting a Cessna 172R, 172S, 182T, T182T, 206H, or T206H
from a FBO, I'd request to see how the FBO's mechanic complied with
the August AD. If no torque test was performed, I'd request that it
be done.

Uncontrolled fun by
Roy Smith
Had some fun this evening at IJD (Willimantic, CT). It's an uncontrolled
field. Big runway 9-27, smaller runway 18-36. AWOS is saying the wind is
something like 170 at 6 kts.
We're flying the GPS-9. Several calls on the CTAF come up empty, so we
decide to land straight in, taking the slight...

Uncrewed aerial vehicles: no pilot, no problem? by
Larry Dighera
Excerpt from article at link:
http://www.newscientist.com/channel/tech/mg19225806.400-uncrewed-aerial-vehicles-no-pilot-no-problem.html
Even if the industry gets its act together in time for the 2011
conference, competition for the desired frequencies - probably between
3 and 10 gigahertz - will...

Understanding fuel servo maintenance by
Robert M. Gary
The fuel shop fixed my fuel servo by replacing the spring that holds
the fuel regulating diaphragm. The tech said the previous spring was
very stiff and he replaced it with one that was softer. Does that
indicate that the previous spring was broken (i.e. stiffer than it
should have been) or does...

UNDERWEAR LINGERIE by
[email protected]
Lingerie is a term for women's fashion underwear. It derives from the
French word 'lin' for linen. While the term in the French language
applies to all underwears for either sex, in English it is applied
only to those women's underwears designed to be visually appealing or
erotic, typically...

unfolded/creaseless charts by
Dave Jacobowitz
Though I a appreciate aeronautical charts for helping me navigate to
my destination without bumping anything, I also admit to having an
aesthetic affection for them as well -- especially sectionals.
So, I've been thinking of perhaps framing some and hanging them from
the wall, not just in the...

Unfriendly Skies by
Roger Long
I picked up a 1989 book in our local swap shop called "Unfriendly Skies" by
Captain "X" and Reynolds Dodson. It's an "as told to" about the deregulated
airline industry and a pretty good read. It sounds like not much has
changed in the last 10 years except the airlines are losing even more...

Unimportant Question by

OK, I know this doesn't make a bit of difference, but I was always that
kid that kept asking why and occasionally a strange question pops into
my head and I thought I'd throw it out for the flying gurus to take a
stab at if I can explain my question.
