RAH newsgroup by
[email protected]
I know Google says their groups site is easier to use since they
revamped it, so I guess I'm missing something. The only way I can find
RAH now is because I had a shortcut to it from before the time of the
"improvement." When I look up alt.rec, there is no subcategory called
"alt.rec.aviation.,...

Sloshing compound is failing by
Tim Hickey
I guess that it has been at least 18 years since I build the fuel
tanks for my CH-300. They are of welded aluminum construction, and
were sloshed with Randolph's sloshing sealer. The Alcohol resistant
type, if I remember correctly.
Today I drained the tanks so I can replace the fuel selector...

Mosquito rotorcraft by
jesse
All,
I just saw a post in r.a.r about the mosquito. Neat little rotorcraft.
It looks to be well designed and built. Anyone have any personal
experience with them. the same q was asked in r.a.r, but i thought
since it IS a kit, and this is r.a.h that more people might have one in
this group. might...

First time I've stumbled across one of these:
Lift Reserve Indicator
http://home.hiwaay.net/~sbuc/journal/liftreserve.htm
"One of the AOA systems that has been around the longest is the Lift Reserve
Indicator. This unit was developed in the 1970's and has been offered in a

Safety wiring oil filters? by
flybynightkarmarepair
A question for those flying auto converisons - how do you secure the
oil filter?
Aviation oil filters have safety wire tabs. FRAM HP filter, which for
various reason are what I need to use on my VW based conversion, no
got. Oil filters typically go on finger tight. Losing your oil filter
could...

AMT question: Approved Data by
Mark
Hello.
I am studying for my O&Ps and I have a question about "approved data" and
"acceptable data."
I understand that the manufacturer's maintenance manual is only considered
"acceptable data," and is therefore not approved for use in making major
repairs or major alterations.
So let's suppose I...

Starduster Too, first flight, busted prop by
Al
Well, a friend finally got his starduster too in the air. He finished it
this last winter, and has been preparing for his first flight, The flight
went well, apparently normal until shutdown. There was about 6 " of prop
missing from each end, and what was left was shattered back another 6-8".
His...

Jim Weir- need help on aux audio inputs to PM-3000 intercom by
Danny
Hi Jim,
I spoke with you earlier today about this.
I have 3 aux audio inputs that I want to run through my PM-3000
intercom. The problem is the PM-3000 does not support any unswitched
aux inputs. I had tried running them through the entertainment input
but this results in the audio only playing...

it was no longer available on the server. ?
Hey guys, I've been lurking around here for quite a while to get an

Circular Aircraft Hangar by
Jeff
I remember seeing some time back a hangar design that used a circular
dome style building. It showed GA airplanes all backed in and seemed
like it used the space well. A Google search on round, circular, and
dome aircraft hangars did not lead me to the hangar that I was looking
for.
Anyone...

Thanks for the Sun 'n fun reports by
Tedstriker
I'm headed for Oshkosh this year myself. Everytime I do Sun 'n fun,
it's so close to Oshkosh, I never feel like going up there so soon
after SNF. So this year, I skipped SNF and am all set for OSH. Better
fly-in anyway. I've also noticed the SNF organazation and EAA starting
to distance themselves...

Electric motor assisted super- or turbocharger? by
Max Kallio
2-stroke diesels need compressed air for starting the engine, so the
turbo (exhaust driven centrifugal supercharger) is out of a guestion
and it produces very little boost at low rpm anyhow.
How about supplementing a centrifugal turbocharger with a high speed
electric motor to create boost needed...

Well then, what about trailing antenna's? by
john wier
If the big aluminum foil ears on a whip antenna doesn't help, what
about those trailing wire antenna's that are trailed back behing the
aircraft a good distance. I've seen them on Aero Commanders (500
series). I might hook up a spool of wire and one of those drag devices
that pull it out the tail...

The FAA is concerned that some builders-for-hire and commercial
"builder's assistance" providers are doing more that the FARs permit
when it comes to amateur-built aircraft.
On September 6th, the FAA...
