Earlier this week we had an F1 tornado visit the airport. It missed the buildings (and my hangar!), but went across the south side of the airport where 4 C-47's have been rotting since their retirement in the late 1980's. Airport is VIH Rolla National Airport (former Vichy Army Airfield)...

I thought these might be of interest here - a fairly arbitrary selection of USAF pictures of B-52s for no particular reason other than that I'd drawn them togther. You may have seen all, some or none of them before. --

So I'm watching TV last night. They are showing a scale model of a high rise building that was being tested for it's ability to withstand wind. Then they show an engine from a Lancaster being fired up to produce the wind. On a stand, complete with Lanc nacelle, and contra rotating props.
