issue of Soaring Magazine from 1957 by
[email protected]
I am looking for copy of Soaring Magazine from 1957. It would be an
issue from late in the year with an article about a fatal glider
crash. The pilot was Stanley Graham and the flight was out of El
Mirage in a Baby Bowlus. The crash occurred in late August 1957.
Thank you,
Richard Graham

Issues with Dell Streak by
Wade G
Since I have been unable to get access to the XCSoar forum thus far, I thought I'd go ahead and post my questions here.
I just got a used Dell Streak 5 that was previously an AT&T one.
It appears it is Android 1.6 and seems to be functioning fine.
I attempted to install XCSoar using wifi.
I first...

It ain't that hard by
Gregg Ballou
We bitch about declining numbers and then when a presumbly
competent
power pilot asks a transition question people add how
hard it is to fly
gliders. Give it a rest it is not that hard- Ok going
far and fast that takes
skill and time to learn but just flying gliders safely
is not hard nor...

It finally happened by
Bob Pasker
Recently, I got a commercial glider add-on. I have lots of flights, but I don't have much actual soaring experience, and today was day 3 (out of 4) learning to soar, and it was the first day I had really great soaring weather..
On my second flight today in the 1-36 out of Estrella, I got off tow...

It pays to be selfish by
ripacheco1967
Insurance people told me you get a "good" discount if you agree to NEVER LET ANYBODY ELSE FLY YOUR GLIDER.
Man! Lots to learn.
I'm having to relearn a lot about Insurance and Aircraft. Like they don't care of the "experimental" word written on your glider. In GA that makes your insurance sky...

It's been a LOUSY U.S. soaring contest season! by
John Bojack[_2_]
Can we all do a group hug, or something?
Perry was mediocre.
15m Nats got rained out.
Bermudah high had one good day, but did get a contest in with some rather
weak weather.
And finally, Caesar Creek had their typical rain-out to keep things going.
What have we done to deserve this?

It's Bug Racing Time (US) by
[email protected]
February 5th,
Pennsylvania, USA
Light wind, 45=B0F max temperature, TOL 2000AGL at best
I know only 3 glider pilots crazy enough to take the time to learn to
reproject images for bug races. So with the others in mind I keep a
lookout for free, lat long grid images with known corner...

it's longer better? ( TE probe ) by
Piotr Jaszczuk
Hi all,
I've been checking recently different online shops to see what tail fin
mounted TE probe I can get. All manufacturers have probes in
more less two different lengths, 80-90 cm and 55 cm. And now I'm
wondering if it's worth spending around 30 Euro more to get the
longer one, ...

It's OK to soar by
[email protected]
Well it should be, chief super health guy Fauci says it is OK to have sex with random people. Friends it is time to open the clubs. Flying clubs that is.
“You know, everybody has their own tolerance for risks, and it depends on the level of the interaction that you want to have. If you’re...

It's student weather! by
[email protected]
A fellow instructor and I were just musing today that this is the
perfect weather for students. We live and fly in some of the most
dynamic soaring conditions in the world, where half the year you're
being battered by thermals from 11:00 am until sunset, and a good part
of the rest of the year the...

Italy - the new tax affecting aircrafts by
cernauta
I receive many questions from foreign pilots about the new tax. So I
thought I might spread the news here too.
So far, many details of the new tax are undefined. The government has
set the rule, but it won't be implemented in real life until the Tax
Agency defines the operational details, who, how...

IVSM 2009 Photos by
Tony Condon[_2_]
I have returned from my weekend at IVSM 2009. What a blast. I really
enjoyed flying off Harris Hill and could've stared at the beautiful
gliders and visited with the pilots for days and days. I did manage to
get a couple good soaring flights in, one hour in the ASK-13 and an hour
and 45 minutes...
