2 Engines - 1 Prop...ME Rating? by
Andy Asberry
I've Googled for everything I can find on 2 engines driving 1 prop.
There are several military and civilian examples. Nowhere did I see
that a ME rating was required of the pilot. I'm familiar with ME
Centerline thrust.
Cites, observations and comments please.

New diesel engine from Subaru... by

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId=124553
2L TDIO, All aluminum block/head, boosted, intercooled, 258 pound-feet
of torque @ 1,800 rpm. Probably a terrible engine for a car. But for
an airplane....
Haven't found the weight yet.

VW Engine Prices by
[email protected]
Planning to build or buy a Volkswagen engine? Right now all of the
major components come from other countries. Brazil produces
crankcases. Mexico casts the cylinder heads an produces most of the
auxiliary components such as the cam and its gea or the distributors
pinion gear. China has taken a...

Rivet advise please by
mhorowit
I have to replace the trailing edge end of a stamped aluminum rib from
a '47 Tcraft. I've cut away the corroded portion, bent metal to
replace that part and would like to use Cherry "N" rivets to hold it
in place.
I have some questions regarding what spec to look for when ordering.

Magneto Timing Question by
Dick[_1_]
The specs for my C-85 are upper plugs mag @ 28* BTDC and lower @ 30*BTDC.
My results are upper @ 30* BTDC and lower @ 32* BTDC.
I couldn't find a "flower pot" with attached degree wheel to borrow and
attach to the prop hub so used a little "mickey mouse" circular protractor
with a free swinging...

Stress Analysis by
J.Kahn
If someone was to design a steel tube fuselage or a modification to a
steel tube fuselage, does anybody know of a relatively inexpensive and
painless way to get a stress analysis done, or software to do it?

Fuel tank foam by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
Is there anyone out there using fuel tanks filled with open cell foam? I've
heard that explosions are tamed as well as fuel slosh. I've also heard that
the foam must be replaced periodically. How often is the replacement
necessary? I'm using 100LL Av gas.

Rivets vs Welding by
David Findlay
I've not fully studied aircraft construction techniques so forgive me if the
answer to this is obvious. I've noted that most(if not all) aircraft made
with aluminium airframes seem to be riveted rather than welded. I'm not
sure about aircraft with composite or fibreglass skins so I won't...

Do I need to get those special (straight thread) fittings for my fuel

Thanks,

DIY DF device by
John
Like Jim's system most of these DF units do not depend on modulation modes
they use doppler effect and electronically rotate the antenna.
Popular Electronics a few years back had a DIY article to built a df unit.
They used a 16 bit counter and used its output to diode switch pairs of
antenna to get...

Confessions of a Dumb Guy by
Veeduber
Most of you have never heard of Vernon Payne. He's best known as the designer
of a spiffy little biplane called the Knight Twister. Rag & tube fuselage,
solid spruce spars, plywood skins on cantilevered wings. Slicker than snot on
a door knob. First flew about 1929 and continues doing so today...
