Cessna wingspar AD - why not 421? by
Nathan Young
Received this article in my email today from AOPA. An update on the
Cessna wingspar AD. I am curious why the 421 isn't included in this
list of aircraft. I thought all the 4 series shared a common wing?
Glad to see the 3 series are not included (yet)!

Cessna years of manufacture? by
CFLav8r
When I look for older Cessna 172 models, I have noticed that there doesn't
seem to be any in the 1987 to 1996 range for sale.
Did Cessna not build any during these years?

Cessna's next piston single by
[email protected]
Has anyone heard any more details about what Cessna is doing for their
new piston single? Last I heard, they had confirmed that there is a new
plane in the works, but there weren't any details on what it is. I'm
guessing they will be showing something at Oshkosh this year.
My speculation (which is...

Paul Young
Hello all...
I keep seeing the different letter variants for C-172 airplanes (e.g.,
Cessna 172L, Cessna 172N) but I have no idea how different is which
variant from each other... Is there any website or other resource where
I can find specs for each of the Cessna 172 variants...? Any info

CFI in IMC with Student by
Roy Page
I am sure I can count on this newsgroup to give this question their best !
Would it be legal for a CFI to act as PIC from the right seat
with a student in IMC ?
In my opinion regardless of the legality, it would be less than sensible,
what say the group ?

CFI logging requirement by
[email protected]
I've got a question regarding CFI's logging instruction time that I can't seem
to find in the FAR's. Basically, what constitutes "instruction" for a CFI of a rated
pilot? Aside from primary training or non-category/class rated pilots, the CFI can
provide simply instruction while flying. Here's...

Challenger Crashe at TEB by
Jon Kraus
It looks like the Challenger skidded off the runway and crashed into a
warehouse at TEB. Isn't this the same kind of plane that crashed on
takeoff in Colorado? It looks like the plane remained intact so
hopefully the passengers and crew are...

Changing LC2 Battery by
Steve - KDMW
I need to change the battery in my Astrotech LC2 clock. I've never
done this before and I can't find anything about it on line. Do I have
to pull the whole darn thing out to change the battery?

Changing transponder light by
[email protected][_1_]
The transmit light has gone out on my King transponder. I know the
transponder is working alright because ATC reads it just fine. Before
I pay an exorbitant amount to an avionics shop for a new bulb, is this
bulb something I can easily find and change myself? (have to admit I
didn't have time to...

Charging Question (Electrical - Not Credit) by
Michael Bremer
Looking for some opinions and I know that there are no shortage of those
here.
I just returned from a little night ride to get my three landings and
noticed what appears to be an abnormal reading from the ammeter.
When on the ground, preparing for takeoff, I see a significant rise on the
ammeter...

Charging System Gremlin by
[email protected]
I have a vexing problem on my 1979 Warrior. The charging system will
shut down in flight at random times. The ammeter drops to 0 and the
idiot light comes on. A recycling of the ALT switch may stop the
problem but it may happen several more times before "settling down".
There is NO pattern to...

Charging? by
PaulaJay1
I have a voltmeter plugin in the cig lighter socket. It reads about 11.5 when
I trun on the master. Reads about 12.8 after engine start and after an hour
flight has worked up to maybe 13.7 or so. I plan on taking a known accurate
meter out Sat to check these reading.
My A&P says maybe the...

Has anyone here heard of something called the "Charter Quest Team" from the

Cheap ANR headset suggestions? by
[email protected]
Hey all. I've been looking to upgrade my headset to an ANR and
figured I'd ask for advice. Let me give you a few tidbits that I've found
so far as a background:
- My intercom is a DC Isocom (Mono, single squelch, simple, adequate
quality, doesn't mix/match well brands of headsets)
- Tried a...

cheap avgas by
Dan Luke
Well, cheap for around here, anyway.
If you're flying along the central Gulf Coast, it's $2.39/gal self serve
at St. Elmo (2R5) near Mobile.
