Is a bird substantial enough to break turbine blades? by Ricky
Bertie! (Or anyone who may want to speculate) I'm in the last stages of A&P training (already a "P") but I can't figure out if a big bird would be substantial enough to break conpressor blades, or interior compressor or turbine blades for that matter. I'm guessing the first stage blades would...

Some winter flying pix for you snowbirds out there... by Jay Honeck
You guys in warmer climes may wonder what all the fuss is about the weather at this time of year. Until you've preflighted in air that hurts to breathe, and shoveled out your hangar for the umpteenth time, it's hard to imagine what a challenge winter flying can be. We took a flight on Xmas day...

Da plane, Da Plane, I flew Da plane! by Roger (K8RI)
Yesterday was the day! To paraphrase the opening of an old TV show, "Da Plane, Da Plane, I flew Da Plane". I hadn't flown since the end of last March so I had some questions, but felt confident I could still fly. How well was different matter. We were supposed to head out around 3:00 PM so I was...

Anyone know of a Beech 18 based near RDU? by Heath Roberts
I've recently become enamored of the Twin Beech, but have so far only admired it from a distance. Does anyone know of one near RDU (Raleigh/Durham, NC) with an owner who might like to show me around, or even better, go for a short flight? I'm paying for fuel, of course...

Recommendations for Palm Pilot E6B equivalents by Mxsmanic
Has anyone used any programs for a Palm Pilot that provide E6B functions? Which ones, and what did you think? I found something called FlightPal on the Net and not much else, but I don't know anything about it. Sporty's has something for the same price but I don't think it's downloadable.

What type of connector do Northstar M1 M3 use? by [email protected]
I want to build a cable to run my M1 & M3 at home in demo mode. Both navigators use the same connector & pinout for their power (connector P15 on M3, not sure about M1). The connector looks like a Centronics 24-pin, but the edges are more rounded. I showed my local electronic store my M3 but...

More questions on VFR flight following. by Tman
OK, if i call up approach when airborne and ask for VFR flight following, they'll want to know where I'm going. If i'm following a semi-complex route, on V airways and going from this VOR to that, perhaps turning at an intersection to a different V airway, do they really want to know that? Or...
