What kind of plane? by Jim Burns
180hp C172 I don't think that the older XP's had the bumps on the cowls, I think it was only the aftermarket 180hp conversions but I may be wrong. Jim "Nathan Young" wrote in message ... I went for a boat ride on the Fox...

Pea soup and low on gas you think...... by MyCoxaFallen
The FAA and Government is caught in the previous Clinton administrations left wing socialist scam. Social engineering agendas using Government Manager Puppets (Like good red Chinese soldiers should) are milking the US taxpayer and placing air safety at risk while focused more on social goals. Why...

Odd exchange with FSS by LWG
I had an odd exchange with FSS today when I filed an ADIZ flight plan. Everything went as usual until we got to the end. The briefer said is there anything else? I said no, except for your initials. I always ask for operating initials when filing an ADIZ flight plan, since I've heard complaints...

Here comes another one by Dan Luke
Hurricane, that is. Last September I moved airplane and family to Houston to escape hurricane Ivan. That turned out to be a good move, since the steel shelter I parked '87D under was destroyed by the storm. This time I'm staying put. The new storm is forcast to be a minimal hurricane at most,...

E6-B program for HP 15C by Chris W
I was wondering if anyone had an E6-B flight computer program for the HP 15C calculator. I'm mostly interested in the back side of the E6-B with course correction for winds. Density altitude, and True airspeed calculations would also be nice. I could always write the program myself, but I'm...

PDA for flight planning, XM weather by Paul kgyy
I bought the XM weather system from Control Vision last year. On a recent 8-day meandering trip through the midwest, I did flight planning the evening before, entering the new flight plan into the PDA. You can add default winds from the winds aloft forecast to get a good estimate of time enroute...

solo x/c for commercial by [email protected]
Okay, I've decided to start on my commercial, and after looking at 61.129 I have painfully accepted the fact that the 300nm cross country really needs to be vfr, solo. That means long trips I've done on instrument flight plans (imc or vmc) won't cut it, and more painfully, long trips I've done with...

Stupid Newbie Pattern Question by Lakeview Bill
When you are flying to a non-towered airport, do you always have to fly the pattern, or can you make a straight-in or crosswind approach? If these are permissible, under what circumstances? Thanks...

need Oshkosh lodging by Paul kgyy
I need a couple of motel rooms within an hour's drive (or preferably less) of Oshkosh but my hunt 'n peck searches show everything booked. Any suggestions? It would be nice if there were an airport close by so I could fly in and book car/hotel.

Is a Turn Coordinator an electric motor or powered by fan? by kickinwing
I have always read and been taught that a turn coordinator is usually powered by electricity. Is the turn coordinator, in itself, an electric motor? Or does an electric-powered fan supply the air to spin the gyro? Anybody have any insight for me? Thanks.

Aleutian Island airports? by Cub Driver
