New Cessna panel by
C J Campbell
Yesterday I saw the new Cessna Nav III package for the 2004 182s and 206s.
It is a Garmin 1000 system with battery backup (not certified for part 135
IFR, though). At last Cessna enters the 21st century.

Cirrus or Lancair? by
Matt Barrow
Contemplating a Lancair to downsize my six seater to a four seat.
Seems, though, that the Cirrus SR-22 is rather more popular than the
Columbia 350.
Can anyone shed some insights on these two side-by-side?
Thanks,

Belly Cleaning...? by
zatatime
Hi,
I'm looking for ideas on how to best clean the belly of my plane.
It's a Cherokee and is pretty greasy/grimy/dirty underneath. I'm
hoping to find something I can buy from a non-aviation source (like a
supermarket or auto parts store), and it would be Great if I didn't
need any water.
TIA for...

Shock *Heating*? by
Jay Honeck
In another thread (about cold starting) it was mentioned that Alaskan bush
pilots routinely drain their oil, take it inside, and heat it on the stove
before starting in the morning.
While this guarantees a warm(er) engine, wouldn't this risk damage to the
engine from shock heating (assuming there...

Hangar rent by
Kobra
I don't know if this has been covered before, but how much is everyone
paying for their hangars and what is provided?
Mine is a T-hanger with a dirt floor, free electric and manual doors that
are a bear to open and close. The hangar is damp of course, but not too
bad.
When we first secured it...

First Purchase Price Question by
Carl Orton
Hi, All;
Have looked at some a/c for sale, and have found one I'm interested in.
The bird has not been flown in over two years, and is out of annual.
The owner said that he would have an annual done before quoting me a price;
guess he figures it will be worth more as a result. This was one of...

New Planes from old companies by
Dude
Okay, its getting boring so, here is a new twist on an old subject.
Beech and Cessna have recently seen HUGE increases in demand for aircraft
with the G1000 cockpits. Will this cause them to rethink the introduction
of a new piston design to compete with the new players?
If so, how long till you...

Cost of ownership question by
Slip'er
I am going to put a lot of constraints on this question, bear with me. How
much does the size of the engine and airframe contribute to cost of
ownership? I am looking at buying a plane as are many of us. I am stuck in
the infinite loop of, well if I spend an extra $5K I can get this...but...

Selling my airplane by
Dan Luke
I've decided to sell '87D (anyone interested can see it on
rec.aviation.marketplace).
Whether I'll buy another airplane is uncertain, but right now I'm doubtful.
There are just too many negatives associated with owning an airplane in the
Mobile area -- principally hangar and mechanic problems. ...

buying my first airplane? Better hurry because Monday we have the

I (like everyone else) am considering purchasing a plane. I've looked
up the cost of ownership in this group and came up with some good

the numbers into. Has anyone either made this or know where to
download one? It's probebly not...

Fuel Prices For The July Pilgrimage by
RST Engineering
I'd like a consensus opinion from the newsgroup denizens who use any of the
popular "fuel pricing" websites as to the one that they find the most
accurate. My personal favorite over the last few years has been Airnav, but
I'm willing to be persuaded that there is better.
Reason being, about...
