Space Homebuilts by
Ron Wanttaja
It's an age-old story.
A man gets disgusted with commercially-produced aircraft. They've been out of
production too long, parts aren't available, and he's looking for a hobby to
distract him from some world-size problems.
So, heck, he decides to build his *own* plane. His neighbors laugh, but...

How did he make this joint? by
Michael Horowitz
At http://members.cox.net/mhorowit/interesting weld with comment.jpg
is a pic of two tubes welded at 90 degrees.
Any idea how he got any strength to the joint? I don't think either
tube had any metal removed for fitting. - Mike

Anyone building/flying a Ridge Runner? by
Russell Duffy
Greetings,
I was looking at the Ridge Runner 3 as a potential next project, but there
seems to be very little talk of them on the newsgroup, builders sites,
forums, etc. I'd love to hear some comments about them.
Thanks,
Rusty

Stuck piano hinge pin by
Dick
My old project plane has working flap but it appears pin for hinge is
corroded and stuck.
Flap needs to be removed for access to rear main gear bracket.
I can't get a grip on holding the pin and pulling or twisting. Being cheap ,
would rather not cut the pin into small removable pieces as a...

Gift Horse by

Mess around with airplanes long enough, you'll get calls from strangers
asking for stuff. Hunk of urethane foam. Piece of tubing of a
particular diameter & wall-thickness. Quarter sheet of .012 2024-T3.
Various tools...
I no longer lend tools since they have a habit of not coming back but

Physics question by
Rich S.
There is a (magic) B-17 flying along at 560 mph. The tail gunner is out of
..50 caliber ammo. He sees a Messerschmitt ME-109 crossing behind the B-17,
50 yards away.
He pulls out his trusty .45 Colt auto (muzzle velocity 820 fps) and fires at
the Hun when the ME-109 is directly behind the B-17. He...

A different way to add filler (OA) by
mhorowit
In another thread, someone suggested Elza's "Aircraft Welding" as
a good read. I got it from Lindsey Publications and am finding it very
helpful. There is a section in the back devoted to step-by-step
exercises in learning different OA procedures/welds. The book was
apparently designed for students...

Starduster v$ Eagle by

It started with building a long driveway... two airplanes
have already landed on it, and I who never even thought
of kitplanes before am now thinking of building one.
Being kinda lost with all the available types, I have
noticed large differences in prices, such as between
the Eagle-II and the...

Naive antiservo tab question by
[email protected]
IIUC an antiservo tab works by deflecting a control
surface in one direction so that the control surface
then exerts a torque in the opposite direction.
For example, suppose you have an airplane that tends
to yaw to the right with the rudder and ailerons in
their neutral positions. An antiservo...

Holy $#$ - eBay Copter by

Oh my god.

I would normally say something witty, but I am speechless. Is it a
scam? Perhaps an organic brain dysfunction? Or maybe this man is a
brave new form of life being weeded out my Darwin...
