Hello I am still using a VP 6 but it seems to have lost it's separate GPS receiver which is a dinosaur anyway. The set seems to still work alright only it does not get any Satelites to play with etc. I was wondering whether any body has tried to drive it with a Volkslogger? The VP 6 supplies its...

OLC viewing question by Soartech
I sometimes like to see what other pilots in my area were able to do with the recent spectacular weather we've been having. So in the upper left hand corner of the screen I click on WorldNorth America USA R 1 (which is New England). But it just shows me the longest flights in the USA for the...

Learn to fly in half the time? by Soartech
DARPA has discovered an interesting and easy way to train pilots in half the time! No doubt this applies to other complex learning tasks as well. https://www.nutsvolts.com/magazine/article/tdcs-brain-hacking

Which airport file to choose? by Soartech
I am looking at the files available for download on soaringweb.org. Specifically these for central Florida: http://soaringweb.org/TP/Seminole I use XCsoar/Top Hat and I want to download the file that will show me an airport's radio frequency when I touch the airport symbol on the map. In the past...

Video of how to apply Mylar aileron seals? by Soartech
I have searched Google, YouTube and Vimeo and cannot locate any video of someone applying Mylar control surface gap coverings. If someone out there has videoed this could you please upload it to YouTube or Vimeo? Thanks. I don't want to attempt this until I've seen it done.

Solar power for the Zaon MRX collision avoidance system by Soartech
I know they stopped making the Zaon MRX but I think it is a great little device. I'm sure there are lots of us out there that use one. However it eats up a pair of AA batteries fairly quickly. I didn't want to connect it to my 12 V battery as that is just one more load on the system. Because the...

Buoyancy/Shear Ratio by Soartech
What do you think about the BLIPMAP Buoyancy/Shear Ratio parameter? Is it accurate that less than 7 makes the day difficult to work? I have found lately that this seems to be true but my sample size is small. I am in the northeast US. Location is probably a factor.

Sell your sailplane before 2030 by Soartech
Unless you have ridge or wave nearby. A huge reduction in solar output is predicted to occur by then. http://phys.org/news/2015-07-irregular-heartbeat-sun-driven-dynamo.html

Engine Out Landing. Big Deal? by soartech
I almost snickered a bit after watching this "real life" story about how a pilot had to land his plane after loosing engine power at 500 feet. After 35 years of flying gliders this looks normal to me. Maybe power planes are really hard to fly. This guy has 4700 hours and he overshot his turn onto...

Terra TX-720 radio by soartech
I have the wiring diagram and I am trying to repair this for a friend. Does anyone know if the microphone used with this radio is a dynamic or electret type? I am building a troubleshoot setup on the bench to simulate the sailplane wiring.
