Ballistic parachutes - RVs by Ric
I did a search on ballistic parachutes and RVs and found some interesting posts. It was mentioned that BRS is looking into designing a Ballistic Chute for some of the RV range of homebuilts. Has anyone heard of any developments? Ric

Ballistic Rocket Chute FS by Victor Bravo
I have a rocket deployed ballistic recovery chute for sale on ebay. It is a Second Chantz model Aerosafe 550. One or two dents in the case but that should not affect it's functionality. It is used... but never used. It should be re-packed by a parachute rigger before being mounted on an aircraft....

Balloon-assisted jumping by JumpingMan
Some friends of mine are obsessed with the idea of buying weather balloons, filling them with helium, attaching them to a harness (with probably about -3 to -5 lbs of net lift) and jumping up into the air. If anyone has info on both the feasibility (with implicit danger) and cost of such an...

Bamboo Propellers by Bob
In a related post I asked if anyone had heard of such a thing. So far the only response indicates a misunderstanding of how bamboo is used for such things. In the tropics -- with Vietnam being a fair example -- bamboo often has a diameter of several inches. When split AND STEAMED you're...

Bank/turn indicator instrument question by Bruce W.1
I'm considering ripping the curved tube out of an aircraft bank indicator to use an inclinometer (or clinometer) on a bicycle. There's a bicycle bubble level on the market but I don't think it's a good design. My question is, on aircraft bank indicators, why do they look like they are about 6"...

Barkley-Grow T8P wing structure by Oliver Arend
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barkley-Grow_T8P-1#Design_and_development I'm not sure I understand correctly the description of the wing structure. I suppose that there are "spars" with an X cross section that run spanwise through the wing and are attached to the skin at all four ends. A cut through...

Basic question by [email protected]
As I have only ever flown Cessnas, I have a basic question. When flying a stick plane like an RV-7. What hand do people fly with? On a yoke I generally used 2 but if I had to use one to do something else I would keep the left on the yoke. However, I don't know how comfortable I would feel...

basic spar construction by Dave Schneider
Can anyone suggest some home built construction sites where they show the process of building a spar for a foam composite wing. I'm confused on how a spar is built for a foam wing. It doesn't seem like the foam itself would provide enough structure to provide a web. It would seem like you'd...
