XCSoar - Portrait / Landscape by
Peter F[_2_]
Hi Folks,
Anyone know whether it is possible to change from Landscape to Portrait (or
VV) when running XCSoar?
I am thinking of installing on a PNA, but the PNA layout is Landscape & I
would prefer it in Portrait mode.
If it is possible then where in the config is the setting?

How LOW can you GO? by
Walt Connelly
Just picked up my parachute after a re-rig and jokingly asked if these things actually work. The folks at Strong Parachute told me about this accident a couple of weeks ago in England. Looks like this guy was pretty low when he decided to get out. Probably had a full open canopy below 100 feet...

Flow cloaking... I wonder if there are aeronautical possibilities... by
sisu1a
Interesting article about Duke engineers applying their passive,
engineered material light/sound cloaking techniques to water,
theoretically (substantially) reducing the amount of drag generated by
a boat's hull by 'tricking' the surrounding water into standing...

Day Win at Jr Worlds for USA by
[email protected]
A hearty well done to Devin Bargainnier for his win on day 3 at the Jr
World Gliding Championships.
This is a fine result for a fine young American pilot.
We hope for more to come.

Blanik flying in the US by
Bob McKellar
I have asked to check out a rumor that there is an L-13 Blanik flying
legally in the US.
That doesn't sound right to me, as I think I would have heard of such a
thing from verifiable source.
Has anybody else heard such a rumor?

Flight not posting to OLC? by
GARY BOGGS
I posted 4 flights to OLC last night and one of them, the longest,
will not post at all. Not just no score, but won't send a
confirmation email or show up on the list. I tried changing the name
of the file, but no luck there either. Can anybody help me? It's
only 270 points or so, but I'm...

Display for PowerFLARM brick by
Andy[_1_]
Some time ago potential purchasers of the (US) PowerFLARM brick were
offered the choice of the bundled display or the 57mm panel mount
display. No information on either seemed to be available from US
dealers so it was impossible to make an informed choice.
Butterfly has advised me that no English...

Day 4 Central Calif. Soaring Club Spring Contest by
Alex[_5_]
The contest is over. We had beautiful post-frontal weather today after
a rainy evening. There were booming thermals all over the San Joaquin
Valley, marked by fantastic cloud streets. Some over-developement
early, but the air was drying out as the day progressed, and the
clouds got even better...

See You 4 Streaming Maps by

With the streaming maps in CU 4, I understand that there is still some
map functionality when not connected to the internet, but I am looking
for some details about this.
At our airport, the internet access is somewhat limited and with
everyone streaming map downloads at the end of the flying day...

ASK-21 Weight and Balance by
Carl Baxter
I'm trying to make sense of the weight and balance section in the
ASK-21 manual but having no success. They give an equation for r sub
R, which I assume is the empty CG, but it's not specifically called
out. The units don't balance; there is length on one side of the
equation and length squared...

Looking for LS7 Ballast/Trim Blocka by
WrongWay
I recently purchased an LS7. On days when I eat only a light
breakfast, I'm awfully close to the lower limit of 165lbs for weight
and balance purposes.
There is a vertical post way forward near the nose that is set up to
accommodate a stack of 2.5kg / 6lb ballast/trim blocks, but...

K8b recover info needed by
Ken Latam
Anyone know how much fabric is required to do a recover of a K8 ? In
square meter's or yard's. Looking at picking one up as a possible club
single seater but it needs a recovering job. I'd hate to have to order
twice or order twice as much.
