See You and Windows 7 by Mike[_8_]
Just loaded See You on a new Win 7 laptop, and notice that the 3D feature while viewing a flight on a sectional map supplied by Naviter does not show any elevations visually. The map is perfectly flat. Is there a setting I am missing or does See You have a problem with Win 7? Thanks Mike

USA - NTSB Final Reports Question by Bob Whelan[_3_]
Does any reader know how someone learn in a timely manner when the NTSB has released a final report of an accident investigation? Searching their site hasn't revealed the answer to me. I'm interested either in gaining visibility into their 'output queue' or alternatively simply being able to...

Warren Evans? NTSB Report? by Karen
Our gliderport received a message Warren went down Saturday before last in Maholgany Canyon and no more explanation. No joy with my google search and we don't know who to call to find where to write his family. Reply off RAS if you wish. We remember what a nice, pleasant man and we were the exact...

Oudie - ConnectMe question by [email protected]
This ought to be easy (and well documented), but I'm not seeing it. What device type do you use in ConnectMe to transfer a flight file out of an Oudie? A friend just got one, and the Oudie doesn't show up as one of the supported devices. -Dave

Motor Glider Fatality in Oregon yesterday by GARY BOGGS
A Katana Xtreme, N40440, apparently lost power shortly after take off from the Bend Oregon airport, made a turn and hit an empty building, killing the pilot. This is very preliminary info and I’m sorry it isn’t more complete. The motor glider was based in California. My condolences to the...

LS-10 at the worlds. Why only ONE? by John Bojack[_2_]
With all the non-partial mention of everyone's favorite gliders, I'd like to be the first to mention the LS-10 finished 'almost' in the top ten, also.....along with many JS-1's (there were 6 of 'em flying, and only one LS-10.......statistics anyone???) Also, it was consistently in the top...

Cambridge 302 Problem - Help by Leroy Tire
Need ideas on Cambridge 302 problem that has cropped up. Latest F/W with gear warning and PEV. When applying power, 302 boots and displays F/W screen, shortly after the display counts down (3,2,1) and the display goes blank and the needle sits on zero. However the audio of the vario still...

Jonker Revalation ( JS -1 ) by [email protected]
What an outstanding result in the World 18 M championships for this glider . No less than four JS -1 's in the top 10 finishers at Szeged . CONGRATULATIONS to the two South African Jonker brothers for their high placings and their success in designing and producing this "no excuses" racing...

First Glider, a few more questions by tstock
Hello everyone, I am still a student, very close to getting my glider license, but knee surgery has set me back for a month or two. I am in central Florida. I have been flying solo for about a year now. So, sitting around immobilized from knee surgery, wishing I could fly, I decided it would be...

Self-launch two-seater by TeetJ
Any suggestions for self-launch two-seater glider at 100 000 EUR range? My current list: ASH-25M: ASH25 self launchers tend to start from EUR 160 000 unfortunately. Do you know how sophisticated is the engine operation? Is there any flight manual available in the net? (my brief look at Duo Discus...

How much ballast? by Andy[_1_]
I was surprised by BB's comment in the US team blog about the uses of water ballast at WGC. He gives the impression that not only did most pilots hang on to full ballast with very weak climbs and low bases, but that he easily outclimbed them and still ran with them when he was dry. Why did so...

Tracking other than SPOT by Steve Freeman
For those of us who cannot justify the expense of a SPOT given the frequency and location of cross country flying we do, there is an alternative I have been testing. It is inherently less reliable than the SPOT as it uses the cell network. It does appear however to work quite well in my location...
