ADS-B Out rebate from the FAA by
Ron Gleason
While is does not apply to gliders, well maybe motor gliders?, the FAA has started offering a rebate to folks single engine aircraft when they install appropriate equipment.
Better then a sharp stick in the eye!

ADS-B out with a non TSO'd 1201 GPS sensor? by
[email protected]
How does a FAA radar confirm if a non TSO'd GPS is connected to a mode S, ADS-B out transponder?
Wonder if we'll soon see a transponder, ELT,or perhaps PowerFLARM offer an option to include a TSO'd 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor board?
OK, so the transponder costs $2,300 and a TSO'd 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor...

ADS-B rebate by
Tom BravoMike
This is the news from AOPA on Oct. 7, 2018: ADS-B rebate will be back again in a few days.
From the AvWeb bulletin: "As for the ADS-B rebate, it will be a repeat of the $500 incentive launched last year that did not attract much interest."

ADS-B Update by
Darryl Ramm
It must be time for some more ADS-B posts, either that or we can talk about PW5 :-)
With the ~$350 street price Trig TN72 GPS source now available in the USA I wanted to revisit my understanding of the situation with ADS-B Out in gliders. I wrote a forum post for local Northern California pilots...

ADS-B why by
Jonathan St. Cloud
I have a PowerFlarm and transponder. Ninety percent of my flying is from the Southern Cal operating areas up through the Sierras and typical operating area out of Minden. So while I do pass through a few more trafficked areas, (Cajon& Banning Pass, Tahoe, Reno...etc) the majority of my flight...

ADS-B, Not Soaring Related, But... by
Dan Marotta
I was flying my Skywagon up to Santa Fe yesterday to practice instrument
approaches and there was a Centurion departing SAF.Â* The weather was
VMC, the tower was calling each of out to the other, and we were both
ADS-B equipped.Â* He was at 10,500' and the 12 mile arc around the VORTAC
required...

ADS-B-in dual-band receiver that integrates with an Oudie? by
son_of_flubber
Is anyone interested in a Skunk Works ADS-B-in dual-band receiver that integrates with a moving map program running on an Oudie? I guess it would integrate with a moving map program like SeeYouMobile or XCSoar. The project might just be a matter of integrating one of the proven ADS-B-in receivers...

ADSB out in tow planes by
Charles Longley
One of our Pawnees has an ADSB out transponder now. (Evergreen Soaring) We’ve had glider pilots we’re towing that have FLARM ask us to turn off our transponder. We’ve told the glider pilots to turn their FLARM down or off. My recommendation is to either have a switch for your FLARM or know...

ADSB panel display by
[email protected]
My Trig22 now generates ADSB-out in my Experimental glider. I'd like to add a reasonable-cost adsb-in receiver and a bright panel-mounted traffic display (I can't see iphone or ipad screens here in the western sunlight). Any suggestions? I see the PingUSB adsb receiver ($200) and the AirAvionics...

ADSB visibility with non certified GPS by
[email protected]
The following quote comes from the Trig web page for their TN72 GPS.
"Wherever ADS-B technology is used it is worth highlighting that most ADS-B In traffic receivers will only display aircraft traffic that generate a non-zero quality indicator, (also referred to as SIL 1). In contrast a zero...
