Just for fun, I put up a web page on flying to Europe:

I'd be interested in any comments, criticism, or general harassment.

GPS approach in VFR wx at uncontrolled field by
BobKK47
Is there any reason, or regulation, that states that a pilot, flying
VFR, is prohibited in flying a GPS approach to an uncontrolled field
(assuming VFR conditions at the field), or must the pilot fly the
usual pattern to land?
Thanks.

Radar coverage in Canada by
BobKK47
My understanding is that radar coverage in western Canada is fairly
sparse, but what about at the higher altitudes, say FL 220 and
above. Thanks for any information.

Training for my CFII - Got a couple questions by
BoDEAN
What is the best course of action I should take to get my CFII?
I am currently a CFI at a 141 school. My instrument skills are weak
(I only have 10 hours actual, 60 simulated) and rarely fly instruments
because all my students are primary.
I need to get my knowledge test done, and I want to get...

Using Excel or Access to keep track of students/records? by
BoDEAN
Any CFI's here use Excel or Access on their computer to keep a log of
their students and information on them and what you've covered with
them?
IF so, can you provide some tips on what a good starting ground would
be for designing a spreadsheet to do this.
Thanks

YOUR safety is at risk by

YOUR safety is at risk when the FAA hires people according
to their race and ethnicity, and not according to their

Brad
Peter wrote:
Hi All,
This is for an N-reg aircraft.
Aircraft: a standard piston single.
P1 seat: a pilot legal to be PIC under VFR.
P2 seat: a pilot legal to be PIC under IFR (but no CFI/CFII rating).

filing stars by
Brad Salai
I'm going to DXR (Danbury) from ROC (Rochester) on Saturday. There is a STAR
for Danbury, NOBBI THREE, that has a transition starting at Rockdale. Here's
the question:
Should I file the STAR, even though it is a little out of the way, or should
I file a more direct route. If I file something more...

Garmin Data Cards by
Brad Salai
Does anyone know the format of the data cards for the GNS 530? Our club is
putting them in our small fleet, and we are considering buying extra data
cards to make the updates easier. The Garmin price seems high. If these are
standard cards, we may be able to do better elsewhere. Anyone have...

Approach Question- Published Missed Can't be flown? by
Brad Z
Question for the gallery-
Refer to the FCI ILS 33 Approach
http://www.naco.faa.gov/d-tpp/0405/06066I33.PDF
The published missed approach requires tracking to the flatrock VOR (FAK).
For the past few months, the following notam has been published: FAK VOR
067-230 UNUSBL. So basically, you'd need...

KRMN ILS 33- Interesting Approach by
Brad Z
http://www.naco.faa.gov/d-tpp/0405/09743IL33.PDF
I haven't come across an approach with two separate missed approach
procedures before. Is this even remotely common?
I think I'll add this to my instrument students' training regiment due to
some additional interesting features- teardrop course...

Weekend IFR ground school with Aviation Seminars by
Brad Z
Good write up. Although I've always studied for my written tests the old
fashion way, I've always been curious of how the weekend "cram" sessions
work out for folks. By the way, was that 8:00 PM that you took the test, or
the 8:00am the next morning? Either way, it sounds like some really...

Picking up a Clearance Airborne by
Brad Z
I was departing Harford Co MD airport yesterday (0W3) enroute to
Chesterfield MD (FCI). 0W3 is a small non-towered field with no ground
communications to ATC or FSS. In trying to pick up my clearance on the
ground, I attempted to contact Leesburg FSS on the 1-800-WX-BRIEF. Due to
call volume, I ...
