The 1 min timing (or 1½ min above 14.000 feet) - is that in Your opinion
inbound or outbound leg? Doc 8168 says "outbound no wind" - but that might
be a matter of definition, because all pro`s I asked, says Inbound...?

runway is quite long so I wasn't concerned about the tailwind.

I'm trying to figure out the right way to use the AP for an ILS. The
manual isn't clear on this situation. Assume that I have a vector to
intercept the localizer and have been cleared for the approach. Let's
say that the intercept angle is less than 45 degrees.

You are at 300' in IMC when the GS fails. Assuming you are timing the
approach, is it legal to climb to 500 and continue the approach?

I'm planning my 250 nm XC for my instrument rating and would like to do a
PAR approach at Pt. Mugu naval airfield (NTD) in CA on my way back from San
Luis Obispo. How would I file that? I will be coming down V25, should I
expect the IAF to be VTU? Is there any way to indicate in the flight...

At what point do you report holding to ATC? Upon reaching the holding fix,
or when you are established in the hold and again crossing the fix? For
example, your direction of flight makes a parallel entry appropriate. You
cross the fix and turn outbound. Should you report then or wait till...
