Wood glider outdoor storage by
Sky Surfer
Random question (kinda): Can an all-wood homebuilt glider be tied down outside year-round in a dry climate (e.g., Colorado) and be weather-protected by padded covers? The glider's plywood skin is covered by a layer of thin fiberglass, then painted. I guess I'm asking for actual experience or...

Cover it if 302 needle does not zero at power up. by
MaKoRide
Cover up the face.
The Cambridge 302 vario needle can fail to zero correctly at power up.
The instrument uses a light source and photo sensor to find the zero
position. If bright light overpowers the light source then the needle
can fail to position properly. Sometimes it goes around in circles...

Walt Rogers has written about using this model in a few posts. I have used the beta version with reasonable success, specifically the mid and high level cloud predictions.
I would like to see better explanations of the fields and to...

Trainer built in Florida? by
GM
Hi all in US-glider land!
I am just curious: what happened to the rebirth of the Polish Kr-03
trainer, which was supposed to be built by a company in Florida?
With the Euro growing stronger and stronger against the US$ and the
aging fleet of 2-33, I thought there would be a good market for this
US...

iPAQ logger problem (no G-record) by
Mike Yankee
Perhaps some knowledgeable person can help me with this. I recently
started using an iPAQ with GPS_LOG WinCE interfaced to a Garmin II.
Before flying with it, I did a test run over the hills in my car; it
logged the trip perfectly and the log included the G-record. I then
flew with it and it...

Turning radii and spanwise airspeed distribution by
JJ Sinclair
Good observation, Bill. Most long wingers have found it best to keep the nose
pointed towards the outside of the turn. It helps the climb. Your yaw string
should be telling you to, "Put your foot in the inside hole". Just don't do it.
Does that make sense?
