Books on Military Rotary Wing to Civilian Fixed Wing Transition? by
Greg Copeland
My brother is a CFI, training Apache Long Bow pilots and would like to
transition to GA after he retires. Was wondering if anyone knows of
any books which will help prepare a career military helicopter pilot
for the world of civilian, fixed wing aviation? Specifically,
anything that covers...

Montblack
Anyone going to Duluth (MN) this weekend for the Air Show?
http://www.duluthairshow.com/index2.htm
Blue Angles are scheduled to be there.
Hopefully we'll get up there on Sunday morning. Weather looks iffy.

Lidle crash: who is wrong? by
Blasto
Confusing reports on the Lidle crash-- Mayor Bloomberg, sounding
utterly confident in his sources, says the plane took off from
Teterboro, circled the Statue of Liberty, flew up (south-to-north) the
East River, then into the building. A few minutes earlier, a CNN
reporter using PASSUR asserted that...

Charlotte, NC Flying Clubs by
[email protected]
I've been lurking here for almost a year now...
I may be relocating to Charlotte, NC. Any recommendations
on flying clubs or FBO's at nearby airports? Tips on cool
places to fly to would be great also.
Thanks.

Why are commuter flights so expensive? by
Jay Honeck
Here's a mystery that I just cannot answer:
To fly to Las Vegas from Chicago costs $99.00. (For example.)
To fly to Cedar Rapids from Chicago costs $300.
Naturally, at that price practically no one flies on that plane into Cedar
Rapids.
Question: WHY do the airlines that fly into Cedar Rapids...

First impressions of flight by
Mxsmanic
What did you notice most during your very first experience travelling in any
type of airplane, as passenger or pilot? And if you are a pilot, what did you
notice most during your very first experience actually flying an airplane (if
it was not also your very first experience with flight)?

Looking for Transciever suggestions by

to which hand-held transcievers I might looking into buying.
All suggestions are welcome...

Cool attitude indicator by
Jay Honeck
Everyone has seen those "Laser Levels" advertised on TV. I own one,
and (although it's relatively useless) it's very cool.
Wouldn't it be slick to have a gyro-stabilized thin red line projected
onto your panel, graphically displaying the actual horizon? Talk about
situational awareness in the...

Terrain Avoidance at Night by
Dan
My early years of flying were spent in the Midwest where as long as you
were over 2000 MSL, there were very few obstacles to hit and no
terrain. Now that I have moved out West (Phoenix) I am increasingly
paranoid about hitting terrain at night.
Choosing a cruise altitude is easy (well above...

Our Worst Nightmare? by
alank
Pick One :
1 - Avgas goes to $10
2 - User Fees
3 - Mxsmanic gets a AOPA membership (get a free hat), a pilots book (not a
simulated one), and finally, a "drive" in an actual airplane with an
instructor.......

Please Ignore Mxsmanic by
Terry
To all the "real" pilots reading this newsgroup.......
It's very obvious that Mxsmanic is not serious about learning to fly
real airplanes.
The questions asked by him are very basic questions that could be
found by
reading and educating himself in the "right way". Instead it appears
he is lazy...

Stupid Question by
Crash Lander
When pilots quote how many hours they have logged, is this a personal log
that is kept, or is every hour you fly entered into a national registry and
formally kept?
