Q for Jim Weir or others: solid state fuel level probes? by
Charlie England
Jim or anyone else who has 'been there',
Are circuit boards available for the capacitive fuel guages featured in
the year2000 Kitplanes articles?
Or (more desirable to me) is there an easily fabricated optical sensor
available for fuel level measurement?
Other options???

However, I'm receiving on both comms. I also have a toggle to turn on an

51% rule by
Robert Bates
How is the 51% rule line drawn? Let's say for example I want a homebuilt
Comanche with my own choice of engine and I locate a set of plans as well as
the wings and tail feathers from a factory Comanche. If I build the
fuselage from the plans and recycle the wings and tail, is it an amateur
built...

Off topic, Gore and the internet (don't read if not interested) by
Corky Scott
To be merciful, I've changed the subject heading so that those who
don't care to read any more about this subject can simply delete it or
skip over without opening it.
I figured that there had to be more to Gore's one liner. Politicians
don't normally feed ammunition to the opposition so I looked...

Pack guns in your little airplane by

The same could be done for part 91 flight. We could all write Phil
Boyer at AOPA and Paul Jr. at EAA and suggest arming ourselves at
little airports across America. This would keep non-flying TSA drones

Fuel Drip Containment by
Sven
Hi Jim,
I have seen people hang an empty plastic oil bottle on the fuel vent to
catch the dripping fuel on Cessnas. Have you tried this? It shouldn't be too
much of a fire hazard and will save your hangar floor. Just make sure that
you drain the bottle regularly because the angle it sits on the...

News server problems on just this group by

Is there anyone on this group that uses one of the following new

news.cox.net
news.central.cox.net
news.west.cox.net
nslookup will tell you that they are all mapped to 68.6.19.6
I can't access this group with that server, and so far can't get cox to

World's loudest airplane by

Now that is an achievement. We have been slowly avoiding the Airshow format
that has to have a Harrier, or F16's busting my eardrums or a jet powered
truck drag race.
Way back when EAA was about Experiemental Aviation. Now John Deere and Ford
get higher billing and more up front space than the...

RT-359A transponder question by
Lars
Anyone out there who knows the pinout of the rear connector of the ARC
RT-359A transponder? We just got an altitude encoder to go with the
unit (an ACK A-30) in hope for a little better reception from the ATC
when flying in controlled airspace...
The ACK installation manual is fine, giving the pin...
